bellow is the original post from the first thread
hi all my names emma bull,
and please say if you think this is a bad idea but after reading about the pcos campain 2005 starting in the USA through this fantastic site i thought the uk could do with a bit of shaking up in the pcos awarness department!!!!!!!!
many of us after years of not knowing what was wrong with us have been diagnosed with pcos!!
lets in conjunction with the USA awarness campain start our own revolution!!
and click on printables link and print if you can leafets and cards to hand to your GP'S SURGERY or LOCAL HOSPITALS and GYNE DEPARTMENTS so our undiscovered soalcysters can find this site and gain the support they need!!!
LETS GET PCOS AND THIS SITE ON THE MAP AND IN THE PEOPLES MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you can help post on this thread what you have done and who you have sent the infomation from the printables too!!!!
thanks emma b

Yes definately, it's been on my mind for a while so I will be willing to help and put alot of work into it Although I also have limited funds, I think every tiny amount of help would we worth it in the longrun.
I was also thinking about taking part in one of the fun-run type things in some PCOS shirts & gear to raise some money and awareness. I have not trained and have no idea where/when but if anyone else would want to join me then please let me know and I can get organizing I think it would be a good morale boost as well
I will reply again later as I have to go offline for a few hours.

So glad I found your post since I was about to write a similar one. I have already started on the UK side of things - Tara (webmaster of US site) has started to use me as her UK contact.
What I suggest is that one night we get together on msn (or some chat room) and come up with a plan for how we are going to move this forward. I noticed that there was an article in Company magazine the other month so there are interested parties out there.
There are so many "famous" people with PCOS who we could get on side (I have already tried to contact Jules Oliver and Good Morning) and I think with a little bit of team work we could really do something over here.
What we need to do is write a press release (I work in Marketing and Communications so this is what I see my press guys doing!) so as we are all sending out the same message.
We then have to think of our target media and get some contacts there. Who are we trying to get the message to. i.e. it's not worth talking to FHM but magazines like Just 17, Cosmo and Marie Claire would be good. Also think about TV. Daytime chat programmes are probably the way forward. Newspapers mostly have a women's section (SunWoman, SheMail etc) which would be useful to cover things in.
There needs to be an event or a launch of the scheme - even if it is just a load of cysters getting together over coffee one day to discuss their experiences. We could then get local press along and invite national press and see if we can raise awareness there.
These are just a couple of ideas but I realise that everyone is busy. What we need to do is work together as a team and delegate tasks between us.
My msn is Imogenhitchcock@hotmail.com - please add me as I would be keen to talk to anyone about this - I am normally online in the evenings. Alternatively you can get me on my email - imogenh@gmail.com
Emma, Lucy, Bex and I had a good chat/rant about this last night on msn.
We have agreed to "meet" again on Monday evening from about 7. The girls are going to put together a contact list of media that we should target and I am going to draft together a press release. If you want to join in come on the msn at this time and add me and I will invite you in!
See you then!
Love,
Imo xx

I've added banner links to my sigs on 2 forums I use - one of which has a massive membership! - and pm'd a mod on a 3rd site which doesn't allow sigs to ask if I post something, can she make it a sticky.
I work in a concession in Debenhams, so I'll ask my boss if I can put leaflets on the counter, and I'll take some with me when I go see my GP next week, too.
I missed the msn chat tonight, but if you're having another one, let me know. My msn is moza_jf@hotmail.com
I totally forgot about the msn chats. I would love to chat to you guys about this! My msn is at pantene6@hotmail.com I am online almost every night!
