PCOS Symptons: well all of them, acne (its fading), hirsutism, amenorrhea
Worse thing abt PCOS: well apart from the symptons, the feeling (sometimes) of not feeling like a 'normal female'. Its soo frustrating not having regular periods!!! oh how I wish there was a natural pill out there that induced natural periods!!
Medication: Metformin, Dianette (back on it again!!!!!), dexamethasone.
Additional info: keep at the healthy balanced diets and regular gym going because although its difficult initially, it actually does work.
Weight relatively stable, average.
Positive frame of mind.
Girls keep smilling!! Gotta be happy!!
Additional info: there are 2 days in your life you can do nothing about one is yesterday the other tomorrow so dont waste time worrying about them just ehjoy today!

Name Mari Age 31 Family situation Married, one teenage son
PCOS symptoms Hirsutism all over!, Periods extremely irregular (longest was 7 months, until doc gave me progesterone), extremely painful and heavy when I do get them, and they come with debilitating migraines, huge weight gain in past year and a half (50+ lbs), TTC for 18 months now, and nada.
Worst thing about PCOS Unable to concieve
Medication used Nothing yet
NHS or Private NHS - they've been putting me off for MONTHS. Doctors at my practice are completely uninterested in trying to help. Was diagnosed in the States, but took no action as my insurance didn't cover medication and I wasn't suffering from any symptoms besides missed periods. Wish I'd been smarter then! Going to go with BUPA now and see if that makes any difference.
Action taken against PCOS Trying to lose weight, replacing unhealthy snacks with fruit and nuts and trying to maintain an exercise regimen, but not going too well as I work 12 hour days!
Just a word about Bupa - if you're already diagnosed with PCOS, I'm afraid they'll exclude it from your new policy, so they'll be no use to you. (I know this, because I have PCOS and Bupa, too - but it's no good for the PCOS unfortunately, although great otherwise!)
You may not know this, but you can insist you're referred to a gynae and/or endocrinologist (hormone doc). They have to, if you make them. In fact, they really should! Don't take no for an answer from your GP. The other tip is to go with a folder of information about PCOS (loads of good stuff on here) and bamboozle them! The more knowledgeable you sound, the less they'll be able to ignore you.
Best wishes,
Tory
