I was told I may have PCOS back in 2002, a u/s showed everything was normal but my blood tests were abnormal, i was put on the pill untill we wanted to TTC, I have just had more blood tests taken as we have now been TTC for almost 6 months and will get the results next week, the next plan is to start metfomin to see if that will help us get pregnant

So far...TTC since Jan '06:
Natural AF's: 2 a year. 1st Clomid: March '06...BFN, 2nd-7th: No ovulation. Met: '06...no effect. O/D: Sept '06...no effect. 1st IUI: June '08...BFN. 2nd IUI: Nov '08...BFN.
Whilst on a break from treatment: June '09: first natural ovulation after a teeney bit of acupuncture...BFN.
July '09: Trying a more natural approach...coming off Metformin, starting acupuncture, low GI and exercise.
Name: Amaryah (like Mariah Carey but with an 'A' of course)
Age: 26
Occupation: Secondary Drama Teacher
Nationality: Canadian (but I've been living in Bristol for nearly 2 years)
Family Situation: Getting married in two weeks!
DX: Still in the process, have been in the process for 5 years now both in Canada and now here with the NHS, though I think I have finally met a doctor who is willing and able to help.
Symptoms: Infertility (ttc for 18 months)
Hirsuitism and hairloss (if only it were the hairs on my chin that
fell out I wouldn't have a problem, unfortunately plucking
and waxing is a daily routine)
Obesity (despite a personal trainer and a healthy organic diet
I've only been able to loose weight when I reduce the
number of calories to an unrealistic level)
Depression (I'd consider it mild, though the frustration of
diagnosis when I know what is wrong drives me mad)
PMT (I feel sorry for the DH2B)
Irregular cycle (in the past two years it has improved
dramatically and has become fairly regular, though I am
still the queen of pregnancy tests (and wishful thinking))
Insulin Resistance (presently trying to find a diet to help)
Worst thing about PCOS: Being told by a Canadian endo that I lying about how much food I ate because as she said I couldn't possibly eat less than she did. Oh, and let's not forget the above symptoms, they suck too.
Medication: Nothing yet, and I'm not sure I want any, though I am sick of being fat and hairy. If there is a magic 'de-fat-ifying hair removal' pill, I would like to try it.
Anything else: Not that I can think of at the moment.
Family situation: Relying on my fantastic parents who are moving heaven and earth for me to get any treatment necessary without disrupting my education. Also incredibly lucky to have an unbelievably supportive and caring boyfriend worrying about me back in my Uni city.
PCOS symptoms: Always had a weight problem, but gaining when I was eating healthily, facial hair, body hair, specifically my stomach, hair loss at my temples initially put down to stress, severe abdominal pains recently, depression from which I have suffered for many years, first identified when I was 13.
Worst thing about PCOS: Losing my hair has been very distressing. My recent weight gain, despite being used to it, has made me feel quite insecure too.
Medication used: None yet
NHS or Private: Private
Action taken against PCOS: Not much yet, will continue taking Saw Palmetto and trying to keep up the healthiest lifestyle I can until I can see my doctor again. Open to any recommendations or advice.
Name Alice
Age 28
Family situation Married to DH for nearly 4 years, together nearly 6
PCOS symptoms 2 miscarriages, all the classics except I have always had regular periods, and don't have skin problems, apart from very pink cheeks!

Medication used I take metformin, saw palmetto, zinc, psyllium husks and seaweed extract
NHS or Private NHS - but have just joined BUPA through DH's work
Action taken against PCOS I'm currently trying to lose weight through lifestyle change- cut down on the booze and carbs, swim as often as poss and I have joined a weekly execise class. Have lost 2 1/2 stone since xmas but have hit a standstill
Any other information
I live in Norfolk now but am from Kent/Brighton
Am a primary school teacher
Also post on the fertlilty zone site- worth a look!
