I'm probably not the norm for a PCOS girl as I've always been slim and fairly happy go lucky.

Worst thing about PCOS -Terrible Mood swings I'm either unbelievable uplifted or not wanting to live. Medication used - I'm on 1000mg glucophage sr which is supposed to be easier to take, but I think it just doesnt agree with me, every time I try to increase the dose i get evil side effects (which arent good especially when I'm in the "not wanting to live "mood. NHS or Private NHS - So far I've had all private consultations thanks to my husbands health insurance, but now am back with nhs for fertility treatment. Action taken against PCOS -not much
Ongoing: I also have one tube due to an ectopic in 2003.
So I'm now waiting for my next period so i can get my other tube checked out!

Family situation: I have about a week or so left of being a newly wed . Married to Jon on December 2, 2005. I'm a Brit originally but married a yankee so we'll be settling in New York once I'm done with my degree...so currently alone in horrible Halls of Residences at Uni...but only 7 months until graduation!
PCOS symptoms Fairly regular but LONG cycles (usually about 45 days), heavy periods, terrible acne and previous acne scarring. Also have type II Diabetes.
Worst thing about PCOS The acne sucks. Not too thrilled about my uberlong cycles either though.
Medication used Have been on various birth control over the years...started off on Dianette (wasn't on it for PCOS) and AF just vanished. Was moved onto Cezerette because I'm a migraine sufferer who wasn't supposed to be on Dianette in the first place. Piled on almost 5 stone over 2 years. Now on Metformin, mostly for Diabetes, but as a side 'perk' for PCOS.
NHS or Private NHS...and I so wish I wasn't. I've been presenting with symptoms of Diabetes and PCOS for almost 5 years and not one of my horrifically incompetant doctors picked it up until they were testing me for something else. University health centres are the devil. I really hope they're not paying the doctors much because they are scarily lacking in any compassion or ability in most cases. Don't want to turn this into a rant so I'll stop here but I could say so much more.
Action taken against PCOS Losing weight and controlling blood glucose with a low GI diet. Also charting BBT to keep an eye on my cycles.
PM or Email? Either
Any other information None really...currently a finalist at Uni (History and Politics)...would love to hear from other people managing PCOS at Uni!

Worst thing about PCOS: What can i say i think i hate everything about it. The thing that really gets to me is people asking when im going to have a baby, some people dont think before they open their big mouths. sorry had a bad incident over the weekend really has me down in the dumps.
Medication used: I'm on 1000mg glucophage a day thank god i haven''t had a bad side effects from tablets. I still dont have a regular cycle ranges from 30-35 days, I dont know if im ovulating Im still in the dark regarding this.
NHS or Private NHS: I had private treatment only because i was getting sent here there everywhere got no answers so went private and when i did it was bad, the doctor was no good never went back again.
