Dx: Still working on being diagnosed. First discovered PCOS 2 years ago aged 20.
Sx: Irregular periods, persistant acne, weight gain (not excessive), hirsutism. As a result, very low self esteem, but working on fixing this! My cousin has also recently been diagnosed.
Action: Taking BCP Dianette for my skin. Taking up running and eating a healthy diet to ease symptoms. Trying to stay positive!
PCOS symptoms: Erm no periods in 1991, overweight, acne and greasy lank hair. Doctor, it is your lifestyle, I pressed for tests in 1991 (Oct) and was told I had PCOS, what. The Gyny did not know much about it, oh you are infertile, you will never have children, you have cysts on the ovaries, full of water, go and try and lose weight. Gained more weight, had very bad hirsuitsm, had low self esteem and thought i was a freak. A friend had plucked up the courage to take me to her beauticians so started waxing the hairy places, in 1992, and still do to this day (worse on side of face, chin end, and stomach and under chin!). this lady gave me my confidence back. Gained weight, lost it, absent menses.
Symptoms, you name it I have it, Absent meneses (or ovulate twice every couple of years and have the worst period going), suffer mood swings, alopecia, acne, greasy lank hair (wash it twice daily!), Skin tags, Hirsuitism, depression, dunno, might be.
Worst thing about PCOS: GREASY LANK HAIR, and GREASY SKIN LEADING TO ACNE. When I see my mates with lovely glossy long hair, wash it twice a week, makes me sick!!!! I go to work with freshly washed hair, by dinner time, you think I had not washed it for a week!
Medication: Tried Dianatte, Mini-Pill, Metformin, on nothing now, nothing works, just cope with it. Spirolactone as well, did not get rid of the hair, made it worse!
NHS or Private: NHS
Action taken against PCOS: Resigned off my Endo, Gyny, and am awaiting a "D & C" to rid the uterus wall.
PM or Email? Either, I'm not fussed
Any other information: Black mood swings, fatigue, tiredness, want to be alone.
Family situation Living with my very lovely boyfriend
PCOS symptoms , irregular and painful periods, excess hair (face, chest, stomach, arms), greasy hair, mood swings and obesity
Worst thing about PCOS - constant battle to lose weight and worrying about infertility
Medication Nothing at the moment
NHS or Private NHS whilst awaiting a lottery win.
Action taken against PCOS Healthy diet, gym and walking 3 miles a day
PM or Email? PM
Any other information: I've just pulled my head from the sand and bought bathroom scales. I'm now the heaviest I've ever been at 15 1/2 stone and it seems to be the motivation i need to take PCOS a bit more seriously.
I'm just about to turn 34 and I live in Ireland with my lovely man.
Diagnosed in 1991. Was on BCP for 15 years but came off them last year to TTC. Biological clock is starting to tick very loudly! Wish me luck... No periods since September. Waiting for appointment with gynae. The Irish health system is so inadequate.
PCOS symptoms Long cycles, morbidly obese, thinning hair, acne, cysts all over the place, dermatitis on scalp and now when things couldn't get any worse my eyelids have went all sore and dry.
Worst thing about PCOS Not sure, I'm going to guess it'll be the weight. Haven't had time to get used to the idea yet as I still haven't been officially diagnosed.
Medication Nothing at the moment
NHS or Private NHS

HAVING PCOS :- IM FINDING HAVING REALY BAD HAIR ON THE FACE
REALLY DIFFICULT TO LIVE WITH.MAY SOUND SILLY

Action taken against PCOS Tried Keeping weight down, not as easy as id like, have had Ovarian Drilling back in October, nothing great yet! Been on so many clomid cycles iv lost count, on them again!! Take metformin every day and try eating healthily.....thats about it x
PM or Email? Either, don't mind
Any other information
I was 16 when i had my daughter, which surprisingly was the first time i dtd!! So obviously no problems then, since then my periods were erratic or none existent, then my ex and i started trying and nothing happened, the doctor said it was pretty obvious i had pcos, had scans, internal and external and wee the rest they say is history, for the past 9 years i have been battling pcos. Metformin seems to do nothing except keep the weight at bay for a wee while, Clomid has done NOTHING i have tried both 50mg and 100mg. BUT they have said since the ovarian drilling the tablets have a better chance of working so im trying again. SOme days feel like giving up but im still plodding along. Anyone want to ask anything feel free xxxx
Hello ladies, how are you all doin?? gonna go read through the thread and catch up, wish me luck lol xxx
