Hi all! Just thought I'd pop in and intorduce myself properly. I'm Becky (aka:Neumsy) and I'm an expat American (Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him! :-D) living in Killingworth (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne). I've had problems since my very first period at the age of 11 when I hemmoraged and had to have a D/C. (I think you guys say D/E). I did manage to have one son, Owen, who is now nearly 8, among many m/c's. Owen was 3 when I finally found a Doc who diagnosed me as PCOS. In fact he called me a textbook case and couldn't figure out my my OB/GYN hadn't caught it before. It felt so good to finally know what was wrong, but ever since I was 11 I'd always been told the only option for me was a total hysterectomy and HRT.
So, I now live here, with my son, Owen, stepson George (also 8) and husband Steffen. (We just got married May 2nd!) We are about to embark upon trying to have one more child, so I'll keep you posted. I'm over the moon to have found the boards!
XO
Becky
Family situation Engaged to dp wes, have one son lewis aged 7 years and one fur baby my staffie bella aged 5
PCOS symptoms Have lots and lots of big cysts, skin tags, overweight by bout a stone and half till at okay bmi, depression, acne and scarring from boils cysts on my face, lots of hair on neck and chin, no show of af unless meds prevoke.Insulin resistance which taking met for.
Worst thing about PCOS Not been able to conceive my much wanted second child, and having to pluck my chin every morning as im paranoid about it.
Medication Metformin 1000mg, vitamin b complex, vitamin e,folic acid
NHS or Private nhs/ private, because we already have one child we are only eligable for investigation and not treatment so treatment we have has to be private, and i can tell u it sucks.
Action taken against PCOS Trying to lose weight, plucking hair, clomid
Any other information Actively TTC no 2 but we've hit a bump in road hopefully staring femara soon.If i can persuade docs.

PCOS symptoms: overweight by about 6 or 7 stone, terrible acne everywhere, hairyness but i consider my self lucky i dont have it as bad as some ppl irregular af i dont know wat my insides are like as i havent been referred to hospital its probs best i dont find out and depression/paranoia its either caused by this or family probs at home or both.
Worst thing about PCOS: the fact that none of it is any help to my non existent self esteem thats probs caused by pcos in the 1st place.
Medication: Dianette
Action taken against PCOS: Trying to lose weight
PM or Email? i dont mind
Any other information: been diagnosed with pcos just over 2 months i know i ve had it for years but certian things stopped me from going to the doctors. My doctor hasnt referrred me to the hospital but i hope to go 2 uni in september so i might wen i get my new doctor.
I look foward to getting to know u all and making new friends !!!!
I'm a Newbie! Age 35 (36 in July), married and TTC # 1. Officially diagnosed with PCOS in Jan '08 by fertility specialist (but I knew i had PCOS since I was 18yrs but docs just put me on the pill and ignored my repeated requests to address the PCOS issue). Took two cycles of clomid but am resistant so doc put me on Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) for one cycle - that didn't work either. Now he put me on Met 1000mg (started on it this week) and next month have to continue on Met 1000mg along with Nolvadex and he'll take it from there. Just wanted to say hi !
family situation: have been with my boyfriend for 4 years now. We would really like a baby. Have been trying for over a year now.
PCOS symptoms: Where do I start!!! Overweight( by about 3 stone IMHO) Acne just on the face but wont budge, depression( some days I cant leave the house others I'm ok), irregular periods, starting to get hairs on the chin and lip.
Worst thing about PCOS: just the unfairness of the whole thing. Nobody seems to understand it unless they have it themselves. It just seem to have taken over my life.
Medication: I have an underactive thyroid also which I take Eltroxin for.Lustral for depression. Am taking duphaston at the moment dont really know why as I asked my gynae to put me on Metformin but she told me to lose some weight 1st! Also take Folic Acid
Yea oh my god I'm addicted now. I really didnt know so many people were affected by pcos :O I'm still trying to figure out all the little abbreviations for things like ttc but getting there!
