Question UK prices / availability of meds & remedies.

Hi ladies,

Seeing as I am based in Greece and a newby to PCOS, I would really appreciate some tips on where you find your meds & remedies and the cost of them? (So i know where to go when i next visit UK)

I personally am interested in Vitex and Soy the most, but this could be a useful thread for other PCOS newbies gathering info so maybe you could put down details of everything you use in the battle with PCOS?

Particularly for Soy i want to find out;
Where to get it
How much it is
How many capsules per pack
Strength of capsules (to work out how many months a pack should last)

Thanks so much xx

I get Vitex in Holland & Barretts. They do loads of deals and sales all the time - the trick is catching them when it's one of their 'better than half price' deals on the particular product you want! If you're coming over for a short stay you may hit that window of opportunity when it's cheap!

They should have Soy - never used it so don't know!

I tried vitex after not having a period of months and I had one within weeks. Every 5 weeks since, so long as I eat clean, and use vitex (vitex is an Americanism, btw it's called Agnus Castus usually here unless you buy US brand like Solgar).

Thanks again x

Thanks - so 60 tablets @ 1000mg for £10 = £5 a month for Vitex.

Thats not too bad

for centuries women in Europe have used vitex to increase their odds of conceiving a baby, as well as to treat symptoms associated with hormonal imbalance, skin condition, or PMS.
More recently, science has validated the fertility-enhancing properties of this dynamic herb. Vitex has been shown in several clinical studies to help stimulate and stabilize the reproductive hormones involved in ovulation, cycle balance, and menstrual regularity.

Copied and pasted from here - http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/vitex.html

Found the link from here - *~*~Calling all Vitex & Cinnamon Ladies :May08:*~*~*

I'm really interested in it, but did see somewhere about stopping it at certain times during the cycle if taking clomid.......

I'm sure that I have read some where don't take Vitex while you are taking Clomid as I think it cancels each other out or some thing on those lines !! I rarely get AF but since taking Vitex I have had a light bleed once a month but it doesn't last that long but at least its some thing so I do recommend it !

Siany, I've always been a one period a year kind of girl (and that's not just my age been like that since I was 16). With agnus castus it's every 5 weeks. Find my periods are heavier with, than without. Not sure why. You can ask for advice in H & B or better still find a qualified herbalist in your area and get an opinion about contraindications with prescribed meds. I dunno cos I never touch synthetic drugs unless forced and defo not for PCOS.

I wouldn't use it if taking any conventional medicine til I got advice - simply because it's so effective, it definitely does something.
