I had to share this with women who would understand... I was dx w/ Premature Ovarian Failure in May of 2008. It has been (hopefully) the worst year of my life. The pain and grief of being told I would never have bio children has had devastating effects on my life, my body and my marriage. We have had 4 different Dr's confirm my dx and that there is no course of treatment at this point. Monday I went to see an RE who was going to do one last US and confirm that the POF had in fact taken over (I know one Ovary is severely atrophic and barely visible). I needed to know that I saw the best of the best before I was willing to move on. Although she did confirm POF she also made a startling discovery... On my tiny right ovary was a HUGE follicle!! Just primed and ready to burst!! She thought she was seeing things! I was at CD159! Also, she assumed my lining would be barely existent due to the lack of estrogen but it wasn't - it was ideal and thick! She couldn't believe her eyes. She was so excited. They gave me an HCG shot and sent us home to BD - talk about the ultimate Hail Mary! I'm going the 9th for a P4 and a Beta... We know this is a long shot but so far, the stars have aligned in our favour. This appt had been rescheduled twice. At the time I was annoyed but now... I have to wonder that if it hadn't been on that specific day that the follicle would have gone unnoticed. Also, I had thought of starting NPC or Provera b/c of the long cycle... thank God that my GP advised me not to!! Should this be a BFN we figure we're no worse off than we were last week. We're starting the adoption process and we'll move on. BUT should this be a BFP... well, then we can all believe in miracles. This is my one and only O, my first and last 2WW. I don't know what to feel!! Just had to share - thank you in advance for what I know will be a great outpour of support - this is an incredible community. DUST AND LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!!
