Default Ultrasound during period?

Will they be able to still do my ultrasound if I'm on my period?
I plan on calling to be sure either way, but I'd like to get an idea here first.

A few weeks ago I scheduled my pelvic ultrasound for this Friday because we're already off work. I only have a few days left, and I need to save them for interviews because our program is being cut. (So it's either that or wait until June.)

Since last summer, I've never had a natural period, I've always induced it with progesterone/prometrium after 90+ days. I'll "only" be on day 75 on Friday, so I figured it was safe when I scheduled it.

All I know is that I've been having really bad cramps the past 2 days, so I'm fairly sure that my period is coming soon, but maybe it won't...I've been faked out before. I definitely don't want to have to pay a cancellation fee, but I also definitely don't want to reschedule it if I can just get it over with and not waste my personal/sick days or wait until June. (And I'm not at all thrilled about the prospect of having it done while I'm on my period even if they will still do it...but I don't really want to wait until June either.)

Thank you!

Angie - They'll do your u/s whether you're on your period or not, and don't worry, they're prepared for it. But if you do get, just give them a courtesy call and let them know you started on this day..or whatever. But don't worry..I know it's uncomfortable, but they know what they're doing. And they're ready for it if you do have your period. Good luck. HTH.

I agree with the pp. I've had one while AF was in town and I just called and let them know. There wasnt a problem at all.

Okay, thanks for reassuring me! Hopefully it will wait a few days longer.

I had an ultrasound on Monday, and I had my period so was worried too. It was completely fine, they were more concerned that my bladder was full for the Transabdominal part. It was a bit messy but both the sonongrapher and the the trainee that was there were completely unphased by it.

Actually my reproductive endo was thrilled I was on my period at my first appointment, he said it was perfect timing, apparently some women only have cysts during certain times, and the day that I was there was a prime day. It was very very embarrassing. However, then they did one on my husbands testicles. LOL!

You should be fine! I was full on in the middle of AF when I had my transvaginal ultrasound (I'm not sure if that is the same as a pelvic ultrasound) and it was embarassing for me, but no one else was phased. I just told them ahead of time and it was no big deal!

Good luck

Thanks again guys! Luckily my period didn't start after all and I survived my ultrasound without being too traumatized.
