Default Ultrasounds coming up, what to expect?

Next week I have two ultrasounds: a pelvic and a transvag. Never had an ultrasound before. What do they do? What should I expect?

Anyone's experience would be really appreciated. tia!

Just had mine today. They squirt warm gel on your belly and pass the probe along under your belly button at the "hair line" and occasionally press in with some pressure to get a better image. The tech may ask you to take a few breaths and hold them now and then too. The transvaginal was a little uncomfortable as there is a probe inserted and moves around a bit again there is a little bit of pressure. You can look at the screen and the tech can point out the organs she sees but won't comment or give an opinion an opinion (or shouldn't) just like "there's an ovary" "that's your uterus". Oh, you have to drink 32 oz of water an hour before you go. They do the outer pelvic part first then let you pee and do the transvaginal.

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can try to answer any questions! All in all it's not too bad.

Good luck!

I think the situation itself is uncomfortable, but I wasn't really uncomfortable during the actual ultrasound. I was told that the vaginal would be awful but I don't think it could've been any better! I know it definitely could've been worse. I had a really nice lady who chit chatted with me. She made it really comfortable. It doesn't take long at all. Good luck!!

Default its not painful

I had both scans yesterday. I was diagnosed with PCOS a month ago after blood tests. Yesterdays scans confirmed the same. The probe moves about a bit and is a bit uncomfortable but not painful. Its mainly the embarrassment factor, ie yet again having your legs in the air and the presense of the word ''probe'' I found most troubling!

You'll be absolutely fine!

i had the scan where they put it in my vagina. It wasnt painful just abit uncomfortable, and it didnt take that long, i was in and out within the hour. Gave me a chance to get back home and go back to bed (seeing as it was at 8 in the morning!!) lol. But i didnt have the other ultrasound so i dont know about that. Just dont worry it doesnt hurt (",) x

Be thankful. When I had my first one vaginally, it didn't hurt until after I got up and started to move around. Then, it hurt a lot. I think it was because she kept pushing it further and further in.

depending on the amount of "rummaging" she needs to do to get a good picture, you may like to have a little handbag-size pot of vaseline to hand afterwards for any little sore bits. i had a couple of nicks or grazes but i was REALLY tense! but overall it was painless and surprisingly bearable. relax, you'll be fine.

Now on Avandamet, which is a wonder drug. Can't recommend it highly enough. Ask your doctor for it if you're worried about Metformin side effects.

I also have ME, hence the "tired" user name.

Contemplating hysterectomy but have to lose weight first.

Um, did anyone else have to fast to have the transvag done? I'm trying to figure out why that's necessary as my blood sugar bottoms out on me when I don't eat regularly.
