Default underweight- should i gain weight?

Hello-- I am on the thin side (BMI 18-18.4), and after talking to different doctors, they both suggested I try gaining some weight (5-10 lbs) to get at at an ideal weight. If PCOS overweight women can lose weight to lessen their PCOS, do you think it is necessary for the thin/underweight to gain a few extra pounds? I guess I feel that if being overweight can bring out PCOS, then why not for the underweight? Thoughts? Advice? I'm at a loss on how to treat this since I am trying to avoid the pill/medication.

I am 5'7/8" and weight 135lbs. Since December I have been putting on weight and my AF is not only coming but its getting closer to 28, actually in december it was as short as 26. Let the doc check your thyroid, because you can be a hyper or a hypothyriod, which can affect your AF.
Just my two cents. I think by losing or putting on weight can do alot for your body. If you dont have enough body fat you sometime dont get AF because estrogen come from your body fat.

I recommed buying TCOYF book, i just got mine and it is really helpful.__________________

Hello,
I am considering trying to gain weight as well. Any ideas on how you might gain pounds in a healthy way?
