Thumbs up Unexpected Side effect of Alternative Meds... :)

So I'm taking my regimen supplements (updated below) every day, quite religiously, and this morning I noticed something in the mirror... my psoriasis has improved!! (Wonder if it's the Milk Thistle??)

I have had psoriasis since I was little, big red scaly patches all over me, but now they are either light pink and not-scaley or fading in some places

Extremely happy about this. I wasn't going to focus on healing psoriasis just yet as I wanted to get a hang of PCOS first but this result was definitely unexpected but very welcome

I wonder what else will improve?

I also have psoriasis, and yes milk thistle has helped me too before. Vitamin D is also good for it, along with the fish oil. They all help!

You're right herbsgirl, they all help I guess I wasn't expecting it but it sure is pleasant to see results somewhere visibly. Hopefully these improvements will continue!

It is very possible that it is the milk thistle as it helps detoxify and heal the liver. I have been taking a little bit of it for my enlarged liver and have noticed this bothersome itchy patch of skin that I have had on my inner thighs for probably 8 years has pretty much gone away! I wasn't really looking to deal with it yet either but .... oh, well, I am ok with it being gone!

I have noticed various things improving too. My finger nails are stronger! I've always struggled with bad gas - and it is completely gone! I've only been only new regimen for two weeks! Last and most important - my afternoon sleepiness has vanished. I used to have a hard time keeping my eyes open from about 1-2pm, even when I've had enough sleep. I used to have a cup of coffee as a pick-me-up, but I no longer need it!

Congrats! Isn't it wonderful when things start to work? I'm thinking that since you are taking something for glucose regulation, that makes you less sleepy! (I read somewhere today that low and high glucose can cause tiredness). As for me, I'm really glad I've tried Milk Thistle ( as well as my other stuff ).

I get my supplements at a local drugstore. It's a very common supplement and it's not very expensive.

Update: I've been reading online and it seems like many other people had success with milk thistle and psoriasis. I'm extremely happy about this and I hope this improvement continues!

I hope so Herbsgirl! But even if it remains at the point of progress of where I am now I'd be ecstatic! It's the most wonderful thing not to look so scaley and inflamed all over. I'm only taking 150mg, twice daily (altho bottle says I should take it 3 times daily). I will continue with twice and if it doesn't clear up more I will try 3 times daily (I just cant remember to do something 3 times lol).

I should saythat I bought Milk Thistle that is "standardized to Silymarin 80%". Also shoud add for anyone thinking of using Milk Thistle for anything to read what are the possible side effects (i.e. it can interfere with certain meds). There is an article on this floating about in the forum. I just want people to make informed decision about their health.

Default Yas!

Congrats! I love when those unexpected improvments happen. My dandruff has dissapeared. Not sure which supplement did it, but it's gone!!!
