Default Unidentical twins

Ok, this struck me last night.. and it's an odd question I know.

I've noticed that a large proportion of the twins on these and indeed other message boards are boy/girl twins. Now, is this just coincidence or are they more common than single sex fraternals? I'm a nosy girl aint I? heh.

Just wanted to know if anyone had anything to share on this, any thoughts, theories etc..

I don't know, but that's a good question. I hope somebody answers it.

I think its just luck of the draw. The same as it is for a singleton. lol

I am reading a book about twins. It says that 2/3 will be fraternal and 1/3 identical. Of the fraternal twins 50% are boy/girl, 25% girl/girl and 25% boy/boy.

You're more likely to release multiple eggs with PCOS and fertility treatments. Two different eggs means they aren't identical.

Identical twins means one fertilized egg split in two early on, and we're no more likely to have that happen than those not doing treatment.

I have same sex fraternals. My twins are boys. Michael has hemophilia a genetic flaw I carry, and Matthew does not. Which definitely makes them fraternals.

There are a few more sets of boy/boy and girl/girl fraternals on this board.
