Default Unresponsive to clomid. Will Soy work?

My RE considers me to be un-responsive to clomid.

50mg. NO O.

100mg. O but BFN.

150mg w/ IUI O but BFN

150mg No O.

I am now on injectables. I am 10dpo with pms so I am thinking this is a failure. My insurance is becoming complete crap and won't be paying for anything anymore. I am thinking of giving soy a chance. Do you think it is possible that it would work for me?

sorry about the insurance stuff that sucks......i am not sure how much help i will be......but i took clomid earlier this year also....i was up to 150mg and never O at all on clomid....i was then referred to a fertility specialist ....whom i think has wasted my time and money...becuz i started seeing her in june and i still have not had any treatment or plan with her.....so i decided to ditch her and try soy on my own......i am in the middle of that soy cycle and according to ff i have already ovulated and am 3dpo.....so now i am just waiting to see if 1. i actually ovulated and 2. if i will actually get my bfp this month....

Good luck

Well.....most start off with anywhere from 80mg to 16mgs.....however with everything that i read it said to take double the dose of soy that you would have taken of clomid and O'd .....ei. 50mgs clomid = about 100mgs of soy....so with that being said...i never O'd on clomid at all and i was taking 150mgs so i decided after talking to others and reading alot about it to just start with 300mgs of soy....it's higher than most and it does seem to be working for me....many of the ladies i spoke with actually O'd on lower doses of clomid and they were succusful with the lower doses of soy.........

I am confused by the soy I have. On the front of the bottle is says 1,000mg. Then in supplement facts it says Total Isoflavones: 62mg (thats 2 pills) How many should I take??

Can you share which brand you use?

i use the walmart brand spring valley and it is only the soy isoflavones they are 40mg tablets.....so it your's is the other kind you want to calculate your dosage by the amount of soy isoflavones in it.

I am concerned though. Why would it say 1,000mg on the front? I do not want to over take. Ugh. Maybe I will just buy new.

I guess there is different types of soy and so the kind you have is a mixture and it only has the 62mgs of the soy isoflavnes...which is what you want to help with ovulation....i just got the soy isoflavnes cuz i don't know anything about soy in general and it was just easier that way..everything can be so confusing and difficult.... it is up to you

Personally, I'd probably just go get a bottle from Walmart. $6 for a full bottle of 40mg soy iso and that's all that are in them. I would just be concerned about what *else* you are taking- I'm not that familiar with herbs, vitamins, etc. and since you'll need a few, I would hate to be accidentally canceling out the effects of the soy because of something else in them..or worse.

Since you did O on 100 mg of clomid, if I were you, I would start around 200 mg on soy.Sometimes if you take too much (I have read), it can have the opposite effect.

Good luck! I'll be trying soy this next cycle also.

Also, just remember you only want to take soy 5 days, just like clomid and try to avoid it in your diet. The earlier you take it (ie. 3-7) generally the more follies but smaller, later (ie. 5-9)..fewer follicles but stronger egg.

Soy is certainly worth a shot, but you might want to try taking N-Acetyl-Cysteine with Soy or with Clomid. It helps with folks who are unresponsive to clomid.

See the section titled "NAC may help with fertility" on this page: http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/nac.html
