Unhappy unusual met side effect

Well, I talked to my GYN and she told me to stop taking metformin for now to see if my lower back pain would go away..a few days after taking Met I developed this terrible lower back pain and it has not subsided..I was to,d it was not a normal side effect and she wanted me off to see if it went away to know if it was the Met..I take nothing else and it appeared right after starting met so I cannot think of it being anything but the Met..wish it wasn't so..this is the first thing I have been given for my PCOS since being DX back in 93..I had high insulin levels is why she put me on Met..I was so excited to finally be able to take something that could help me with so many symptoms I am struggling with and to see some hope of weight loss..I will let you all know if the pain goes away after i stop taking the Met..thanks for all the support and for this site..it is so wonderful.

Good luck, Pam. Hope you can find the source of that pain and end it very soon.

Pam;

I'm sorry you've had this side effect with Met, but its very interesting to me because I suffered for years with lower back pain which actually cleared up within a week of beginning Met.

It was the strangest thing. It began one morning years ago when I couldn't get out of bed and even sitting up was excruciating. I tried muscle relaxants and pain killers but nothing worked.

After suffering for literally two years, I began Met and the results were instant. My doctor didn't know what to make of it either. I've never read any studies about back pain and PCOS, but now wonder if changes in hormones play a role.

I hope you feel better soon.

Best,
Sarah
