Post Unusual question

Hi there!
I was just wondering if there are any thin cysters out there who also have difficulties maintaining weight....
I can't seem to get my BMI over 18.... my TSH is within normal range so I really don't understand what might be causing this...ideas anyone?

Before I had my daughter, I had this problem. Well, I didn't have trouble *keeping* it on, but I had trouble *putting* it on. I was about 115 for the longest time. At 5'6 that was significantly below my ideal body weight. I know lots of people would kill to have that problem, but I got pretty sick of every doctor I saw asking me about my diet as if I was anorexic or something. I ate like a horse. I just didn't gain.

But then I had Ellen. I gained 50 pounds when I was pregnant with her. Taking it off has been really difficult. I'm down to 132 (lost 2 pounds last month!). I'd really like to get to about 125 and I'll be really happy.

So, yah, you're not the only one.

I guess I kind of do.. though I think at last check my BMI was 19.4 .....

but It seems to be easy for me to lose.. hard to gain..

I'm 5'10" tall and around 135lbs this is my 'happy weight' ... took a lot of yrs to get this weight.. been the same height since I was 14 yrs old (20 now) and ranged from 110-115-120-125- etc... would stay on one of those for a year or more... took a LONG time to get this much weight.. and I'm still underweight by most people's opinions.

In fact my Doc's wanting to start some HRT for other reasons.. and he mentioned it might make me gain weight, but didn't think that would be a problem for me lol.

Smile Glad to hear I'm not the only one

Hey kit sounds familiar what you said about eating like a horse but not gaining...and people thinking you don't eat at all
Btw: Congrats on your daughter and losing weight!
Unfortunately I don't know exactly what my height and weight are in feet/ lbs....I'm 1.58m and 44kgs...would like to get it up to at least 48kgs.
I remember having over 60kgs at fifteen ( I'm 22 now) but lost those 15kgs within two years....(at 15 I also stopped growing...maybe that had something to do with it...who knows)
I still have to have my adrenal gland hormones checked to rule out any abnormalities there coz I've been prescribed a lot of corticosteroids in the past for asthma. Got an appointment with a new doc next month and hope she can finally clear some stuff up.
And Rae, I'm kind of a newbie around here....what exactly does HRT mean?

That's ok Riva...

the abbreviations can be hard to read through......

HRT = Hormone Replacement Therapy

~Rae~

P.S. using a conversion chart (off a friend's fish site lol http://www.tomgriffin.com/conversions.html ) your 44kg ='s 96.8 lbs

Yes! Me!

I can usually maintain my weight although recently I lost 5 lbs but I absolutely have not been able to gain. I don't know the solution - especially when we're not supposed to eat many carbs.

Default difficulty maintaining weight

Yes! I am 5'5" and my weight has fluctuated between 107 and 115 for the past several months.

I was in the 130s when I started on Metformin. I actually quit taking the Metformin last fall, thinking it might be causing the weight loss. But I haven't gained anything (haven't really lost, either), and now my PCOS symptoms are returning. Argh.

Default Me too!!

I am 5'8 and have been at 125-130lbs for a long time...now I'm down to like 114lbs...all since I got dx w/ PCOS. The doc's are trying to force my weight up by making me drink protein shakes w/ every meal...but it hasn't worked. Some people are just skinny- that's all. (smile)
