Default Unwanted Hair Growth

Does anyone know of any alternative medicines or vitamins or anything that will slow down or stop unwanted hair. It just seems like 2 yrs ago I had unwanted facial hair, but now its growing in other places too and making me very self conscious.

So please help!

Hiya Lisaleah11,

Browse this forum as there are loads of things that people have tried (some successfull some not so successfull) for unwanted hair.

I personally have tried saw palmetto concentrate and spearmint tea. Both have worked reasonably well, but I am still struggling with hair problems. A definite improvement though.

Also, beware that you need to control your insuline resistance (if you have it) as extra insulin in your body causes extra testosterone production which in turn is the source for excess hair/hair loss. There are natural remedies in this forum as well for that.

Hope this helps and don't dispair.

Yes. I have been taking cinnamon for nearly a year in capsule form (twice a day with the biggest meals) and I am very happy with it, a lot of my symptoms have improved loads since.

Give it a go and tell us how it suits you.

Has the cinnamon helped you at all on controlling hunger and weight? I ordered cinnamon, cant wait for it to get here so I can start! I am also trying to lose some weight to further my chances of having getting pregnant. Any alternative meds you would recommend for that? Diet and excercise is just not enought for me, i lose like 5 pounds then i just get stuck there. I have fully stopped soda, at most once a week..so hoping that helps as well.

If you are trying to get pregnant, be careful with your cinnamon intake as it is related to miscarriages (there is a thread in the forum about that).

Since I started having cinnamon I have lost about 13 lbs with little effort. I do not crave sweet things anymore, as for hunger, I still get hungry but I think it is a lot more manageable.

I am not ttc or have ever been pregnant so I cannot help you with supplements for that, maybe in the ttc threads they will know more.

I have had good luck with the Saw Palmetto... in my signature you can see the list of things that I am on... I'm also taking prescription meds so I can really get things balanced out sooner than later. The Spiro alone wasn't doing much for hair growth, but I have noticed in the last few days that my facial hair is really slowing down and I only added the herbal supplements last Monday... so about 10 days and I saw a slight improvement. I know BCP aren't alternative or natural, but I have had the best results with Demulen (Zovia is the generic)... I haven't even finished my first pack and I can already feel things changing for the better in my body. I don't plan on taking them that long, but I felt like my body kind of needed a strong guide in what it is suppose to be doing and then I will slowly back off and hope that she can continue down the right path without the prescription support.

Mariela is right that getting the IR under control is going to have the greatest effect. I highly recommend apple cider vinegar before meals. For me, I can feel that my body is processing things better when I take it... I don't seem to have any rise and fall in my blood sugar which really effects me and causes me to get uber stupid and clumsy and just non functional about 2 hours after a meal... so I have finally learned that I need to eat smaller meals more frequently.

Diet and exercise are the best treatment, but they can take quite a while before you see results. I wish we could invent some sort of health microwave that we could pop into for 3 minutes and come out fixed!

The Gigglinfrog,

I noticed on your signature that you are taking NAC. I have read in these forums that it really helps with excess hair and that effects are seen fairly quickly. When did you start taking it? Did you notice a difference straight away on your hair growth?

Thanks!

I started taking it yesterday, hehe... and this may be in my imagination, but I think I already feel it's effects... my liver feels lighter? not sure if that is the right word for it, but it feels like it had a stuffy nose and now it is clearing up... I know it is strange to personify my liver as having a nose, but it's the closest sensation I can relate it to. I started Sprio & BCP again about 2 months ago, added the Met & supplements about 10 days ago and I'm starting to notice a difference in my hairs... they are coming in softer and lighter and it seems less frequent that I am plucking. In hindsight I wish I hadn't added so many things at once so I could tell what did what, but I'm honestly tired of waiting for things to get better and the clock is ticking on the baby factory!

My hair growth is awful! I cant even pluck them, because there is so many of them, and they grow as fast as my armpit hair! lol if I let all the hairs grow out id look like a man! Couple of you said Saw Palmetto, is that only good for hair growth or does it help any other things? I wanna keep with natural stuff and im willing to try anything!!

MommyEmily- I odered a bottle of cinnamon from amazon, 350 count bottle.

I love opening the bottle and smelling the cinnamon. Definietly my fav pill im taking so far!!! Diabities runs in my family, so im hoping that when i take it it will help me from not being diabetic. And hopefully losing a couple lbs would be a plus!

Lisaleah,

Saw Palmetto in general lowers your free testosterone, so it is also good for acne and oliy hair/face and scalp hair loss.

Some people have said that it helps with ovulation too.

TheGigglinFrog,

It makes sense that NAC has cleared your sinuses, it is used in the treatment chronic bronchitis because of that effect.

NAC sounds great, I might give it a go as well. I didn't want to alter anything I'm taking at the mo because it is working so well, but maybe I'm due for a change.

Thanks
