Hi. It's been awhile since I've posted here, but thought it was time for an update. DFD has now been with us for over 14 months. She is doing really well. The agency is starting the process to TPR on the BF, BM, and BM's husband. There will be another hearing in March and at that time her goal will change to adoption. I'm not sure exactly what time table we're looking at but hope we can complete the adoption some time in 2007. I guess we'll just have to see. DFD is a typical toddler. She's 18 months old and very sweet. She does have the tantrums you'd expect at this age, but she's very loving and is quite bonded with us and our families. There was some concern how she'd do developmentally since she got such a rough start but for now she's either right where she needs to be or ahead.
In other news, we're expecting a baby in June. So, I'll have a two year old and a newborn on my hands. I'm really looking forward to it and very excited to finally be pregnant. I missed out on the newborn stage with DFD. I know it will be tough but I'm so happy that I'll have a chance to experience it. DFD doesn't seem to understand yet. We talk to her about it but I guess the concept is so abstract that she doesn't get it at this point. I figure she might start understand a month or so before the baby arrives.
I hope everyone is doing well. I really appreciate all the support you've given me during my journey. We still have a long road ahead of us, but I'm thankful every day that we've been given this opportunity.
