I called the contracted out social worker for BCS (MN)
the one that told us about BCS. and asked her about
the pcos- and told her what the social worker (full time)
said to me about the situation. and she was shocked and
was going to call the director herself and see what's going
on. That she thinks the individual person just made the
decision about what she thought it was and what the
international people would think...
she was taken back by what happened- she said it's never happened before- that she herself have done many homestudies
with women that are pcos. and guademala excepted them.
Also SHE was told that we turned in our formal application and were excited about the adoptioin- told her- we haven't even received the formal application yet!
then I told her that we were told it would take the average 18 months- and she said "NO" that she just finished a case that only was 4! months- from turning in application to the child in the home!
The full time sw is leaving - this was her last week- so maybe-??
We're going to talk to the director on Monday- and should have our formal application then either monday or tuesday- FINALLY.
So we're getting there- So, now my hope switch is back on!
YAY!!!!!!!!! So glad things are turning back around for you! I am glad that you were able to speak with someone who actually knew what she was talking about.
Your post about PCOS being a factor in adoption was disturbing to me and I'm glad it's getting straightened out!
HOORAY!! CONGRATS!!

Jen, that is GREAT news! Sounds like things are going to work out. Who knows, maybe that sw who is leaving has a grudge, so she was trying to make BCS sound bad?! Good luck with everything!

Jen,
I'm so excited for you! Hopefully once that final application is processed then you'll have your baby in no time flat. This is also a huge reassurance for me too that they accepte women with pcos. I was already thinking of what type of infertility to tell them I had besides pcos (of course my doc isn't 100% sure that I'm pcos so I could just use the unexplained infertility diagnosis and not have any guilt about not being truthful.). Please keep me updated on all of your success with this adoption. My pm box is empty now so if you needed to pm me it would work.
Good luck with everything.
Beth
Oh, it is a small world that you are familiar with Rochester and know people here.

Jen--I'm so happy for you reading your update! I knew that 18 months sounded awfully, awfully long.
I was DX during our adoption, so it isn't in my medical records. But I know many, many women who adopt from Guatemala, and several have PCOS or are considered overweight. I'm sure you and any other Cyster who wants to adopt from Guatemala won't be denied for these two reasons.
You're on your way to Mommyhood now! I wish you a speedy trip!
