UPDATE (to do you find this strange)

I saw my Endo. yesterday. She said my body will never adjust to the Metformin, and living in the bathroom (and unfortunately the woods) is not a way to live. She also said that taking Immodium everyday isn't good.

I told her I cannot control my IR with diet. The only way I can is if I eat nothing but protein. Unfortunately when I add even salad, my body doesn't react well.

She switched me to a low dose of Actos, and said she'll monitor me closely for weight gain and any other side effects.

On a good note, I lost 7 lbs. since the last time I saw her (3 months). I had lost 13, but gained back 6 in the 1 week since going off Met. Bummer.

I never did adjust to the side effects of met. I was on it for nearly a year and was still throwing up b/c of it. My doctor changed me to Avandia and I loved it. If your doc doesn't think met is working for you, there are other options. It looks like he's already doing that with Actos. I don't know anything about Actos.

I do not know why my body won't adjust, but the doctor said that after taking Gluc./Met (extended release) in the past for over 2 years and having the gastro issues every day, I will never adjust to it.

I am going to start the Actos Sunday night. She said it would take around 2 months to see if I had the weight gain side effect. Wish me luck!
