I received an email from Diana (Gnzls924) overnight - she and her DH made it to Sri Lanka safely and are taking lots of pictures to show us when they return! She wishes a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here.

Yay! I've missed her lately... I'm sure she was busy packing and preparing. They were taking lots of perfume and other gifts. I hope that they find something special to do for Matthew's birthday and that the family gets a chance to share their feelings in person after this long year. I know they will love Diana because she is such a sweetie. I just hope she feels comfortable and lets her hair down and gets to know everyone. What a wonderful trip it will be!

Hi all - here is the latest update (received overnight) from Diana!
Everything is going well! so many family members to meet ... who all very very nice. Ali and I have become sunburned from our trip to Bentota. It was very beautiful! We went to Kandy (Hill country) on Sunday...just beautiful. we went to the elephant orphanage....so many elephants...i took lots of pictures!
Ali's birthday party was very nice. The crowd was smaller because of really bad rains flooded the roads. we lost power once, but it quickly came back. (Some cars in the lower land were covered by the water, but we are safe.) We had a very nice time. I wore a maroon and gold saree and it was very comfortable. We have had dinners at his mom's sisters house and the food is really good! Needless to say there should be no worries about me not being able to eat. We have been eating a lot!! Ali says he feels like he's 10 months pregnant with everything he has been reading.
The weather here has been about 85 degrees and beautiful, but it has been very rainy at nice...which is nice cause it cools everything off. a couple of days ago we went to the elephant orphanage....so many elephants...i took lots of pictures!
