Default Update on my vertigo

I seen the dr yesterday and she didn't fluff me off like I was afraid of. I had an MRI back in August that I never went back for the results of it. It came back abnormal she said something about stenosis. I had my little ones with me so I wasn't hearing very well with all the extra business going on in the room. I know she wants to send me to a specialist for it. She also is sending me to get a CAT scan of the head on the 6th to rule out other causes. She thinks it is either something with my thyroid or the problem with my cervical spine. She also took blood to check my TSH and gave me scripts for Meclizine for the vertigo and reglan for nausea. So that is it for now. I'm hoping the CAT won't show anything and that it is just my thyroid causing all this. I'm hoping that the visit with the specialist for neck will turn out ok too. Do you all mind sending some prayers-good vibes on the 6th and and the specialist appt? I'd appreciate them

thanks,
Robin

Robin,

I'm so sorry for the problems you've been having. I wouldn't be surprised if it were your thyroid. I have had a lot of problems with vertigo lately. DH can't even roll over in bed w/o my wanting to hurl and getting so dizzy!

I've been looking into thyroid problems and was reading in my Prescription for Nutritional Healing about Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. You can read more about it here: http://www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.com/ My blood tests are always completely normal but my bbt is always in the 96.6-96.8* range.

I sure do hope this all turns out to be nothing significant. I'll be praying for you!

Robin - hope your scan went well yesterday! When's your app't. with the specialist? Hope things are going well and those meds are helping you too. Update when you can, k?

Hi Karen! Sorry to hear you're still having problems; I read your other post. I'll be interested to see what your results say too. I know they say your TSH shouldn't be over like 3.5, but I find if I get over 2.0, I don't feel right. So even if your tsh (and other tests) are in range, they may not be the right number for YOU, kwim? Not sure if you've found this site, but I found a lot of good information here (lots and lots of links to read): http://thyroid.about.com/ Hope you can get some answers soon.

Aww..Thanks Karen & Diane for thinking of me.

Sorry I just got back on here I have been so sick with the flu and sore throat. My throat and tonsils were so swollen I couldn't sleep without feeling like I was choking so I didn't sleep except in 5-15 min increments for 4 days before I finally went to the dr. Now why was that so hard? I got some steroids and antibiotics and I'm fianally starting to feel better.

my Cat scan went well. I do have a very small ostephyte in my right side sinus cavity. She will send me to the ENT later for it. But it rarely ever causes a problem. Nothing else showed up so that is good. Even though I really didn't think it would when you have a cat scan looking for brain tumors and such it does start to make you think.

I got a copy of my MRI results and it said I have signs of degenerative disc disease esp. in C5-C6 area with modereate severe stenois. I have an appt. Monday with the specialist. So I will know more then. I guess it's pretty unusual for someone my age to have this so my dr said it may be some congenital defect.

I hope you are both doing well.
