First off my doctors appt:
well according to my U/S from 2003, I have 1 gallstone measuring 2 cm's. I have another u/s scheduled for the 10th of november. But then I was made aware that I would have to be intubated for the surgery! I HAD NO IDEA and now i'm scared. because of my mouth anatomy I have to go for a consult at the hospital before surgery to meet with the person who does the intubation because my airways are smaller than the normal person aswell as my mouth. Kinda freekin out here!
Then I went to the psychiatrist, he was awesome! hubby came in with me and he spent an hour and a half with us! He dx'd me with clinical depression and dysymthia (sp?) which is an anxiety disorder. he believes my dizziness in the begining was real, but now I am just hanging onto it because I am to the limits with my anxiety. I felt so safe with him, it was kinda funny he could see right through me, and know all the answers to my questions before I even answered them.
For right now we are gonna treat the symptoms to get me feeling better and then work on the core issues.
He bumped my celexa from 20 mgs to 40 he said 20 is enough for a chihuahua! LOL and possibly even 60 mgs. he also said if at 40 it isn't working when I go back to see him that he will add a small dose of an anti-psychotic med, not because I am psychotic LOL because it can make the anti-depressants work better! He also mentioned maybe switching to effexor in the future because celexa only works on seratonin and effexor works on that plus another chemical, can't remember the name???
I go back to see him on the 22nd of november the day before surgery.
He said I need to let go of my mother right now, he said that he thinks that she is bi-polar with the possibility of borderline personality disorder. of corse he mentioned that he hasn't seen her personally and all he can go by is what I say.
He sent me to the book store to buy the feeling good handbook, and down came the rain by brooke shields even though it's about PPD he said she writes about depression wonderfully, I havent started yet, just flipped throught the pages and they seem pretty good!
I HIGHLY recomend everyone find a GOOD psychiatrist! It was the best thing in the world to finally have a diagnosis and someone to validate me! Finally someone who full understands and can offer me the path to betterness!
If you have any questions for me, please feel free to ask!
He also said a person with an anxiety disorder like myself should have never been given wellbutrin as it causes more anxity!
So thats why I felt so damn ****ty for 3 weeks! urghhh!
see, just another reason that a psych is better to treat your depression than a regular doctor!

Pink - I am so glad you found someone who is really there for you!
Also - do not totally be freaked about being intubated - it sucks but it pretty much guarentees that if something goes wrong they have immediate access. I have a strange wind pipe also - if you have any questions I could help with, please let me know.

The other chemical is dopamine(sp). The anti-psychotic hes talking about I'm SO sure it's called Seroquel. Do some net searching on it, lotsa intresting info. I am super glad you found a good psyhc. I've had the same one for years and drive an hour both ways to see her. GL I hope your feeling 110% in the next few weeks.

I am glad you have found someone good! Sorry about the intubation! *hugs*
The other neuro-transmittor is possibly noradrenaline. I have been diagnosed with dysthymia, too, but my psych. said it is a form of depression; maybe you have an anxiety disorder in addition?!
Good luck with your meds and do some research on the antipsychotic drug.

That's so great! Life is so much better when one finds a good therapist that works with you! Best wishes for many happy decades in the future! It may still take some work, but it sounds like you're on the path up.
It is great to hear that you found someone you are so comfortable with! Having the reassurance that you are going to be okay and that it is "only" anxiety is a HUGE help in feeling better!
Also, I had my GB removed in 2003. I didn't even know I was going to be intubated, until I was awake when they took it OUT, after the surgery was over. I am sure they will work something out with your situation. The idea of intubation is a little freaky, but it is really for the best.
GOOD LUCK!
Stacie M
