Default An Update and some questions!

Wanted to say hello and give you all an update since I have been missing. Today is my 26th day on Zoloft and 20th day on the full 50mg dose. I take it at night before bed and have not noticed any side effects. My major panic attacks have all but gone away. I am still anxious in general and get mini attacks but crossing my fingers no more major attacks. I havent had a major attack since a bit after starting the Klonopin daily. I am hoping its just not the Klonopin and when I try and go off it I will get them back.

I have an appt later this month with my GP to talk about how I am doing and to see if I need to go up on my Zoloft dose. What is the common dose? How do I know if I need to go up? And she will want me to cut back on my Klonopin dose which I have already done. I got the OK that if I was feeling ok that i could slowly cut back since this is my first Clomid cycle and I could get pregnant this cycle and they are still going back and forth on wheather I can continue a low dose during pregnancy or not since there are such few studies. My GP oked 6 pills a day (.5 mg) plus more during an attack. I have cut down to about 2-3 pills a day (.5mg) since FF gave me my coverline and I did O I wanted to cut down as much as possible in case I am pregnant. I dont know if I should cut back anymore or if thats good enough. I have an appt also later this month with a high risk ob who wanted to talk more about the meds and studies etc. I was told I would probably be fine if I needed to take a low dose during pregnancy but it would be better if I didnt need to. I was told if I was going to be a mess without it both me and baby would probably benefit more than if I went off it and was a mess. I dont know what to think. I know I am doing really good since I have cut back more than half and am doing alright. Any suggestions?

Hi Kimberly,
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. I just upped my zoloft from 50 to 75 this morning. I am having a problem with my eating. My counselor thinks that the increase will help.

Working through all of this stuff is hard work emotionally and exhausting. I am feeling so much better.

Oh yea and I forgot another big piece of my story. I started going to therapy (they arent pshychaitrists and cant give me meds) but it has helped to talk about it, read about it and learn breathing and relaxation. I think this has also helped me a ton

I am so glad that you're doing better. Those baby steps you were taking before are turning into bigger ones! Aren't you proud of yourself?!? I only took 50 mg of Zoloft daily, but I know that my sister goes up to 100 when she's stressed and then weans back down. She's the only person I've heard of who does it this way, but it works for her. Anyway, only your dr. can tell you what's right for you. And I'm glad to hear you don't need so much Klonopin - the way one knocks me for a loop, I'd hate to think what 3 or more a day would do. And I haven't had any in over a month.

I'm just so excited for you! Great job!!!

First of all good luck to everyone who had to deal with these darn depression pills! I was first on Zoloft, 75mgs, then switched to Paxil, hated it, now I am on Effexor. Seems to be working well, but I have seen a few articles on not taking during the third tri, though I am not preg. yet I am still concerned. My doc said to just stay on it and will talk about that when we get to that point. My problem is aniety attacks, mostly at night. I knew they were wearing off when my attacks started coming back and I was crying at night. I also got the spins during the day.

May all of us find peace through this crazy life!!

Thumbs up

KimberlyHeidi, so glad to hear that Zoloft is working for you. Around here, it does wonders for a lot of people.
You said it right there yourself----"Oh yea and I forgot another big piece of my story. I started going to therapy (they arent pshychaitrists and cant give me meds) but it has helped to talk about it, read about it and learn breathing and relaxation. I think this has also helped me a ton yay yay yay!! All positive! It is ultimately the action you are taking that will come out for your favor in the long run. Kudos!

I have been where you're at and still am (in therapy anyway) Please let me know if I can be of any help to you with this, I really had my hay day with depression and pills.

Have you ever tried EMDR?

Kimberly-Here is an article about zoloft during pregnancy. It is not the one I was looking for but maybe it will give you some info.

http://otispregnancy.org/pdf/zoloft.pdf#search='zoloft%20during%20pregnancy

I recently read that zoloft can cause the baby to not be able to get enough oxygen during birth and can cause them to need oxygen right after birth. This happened to a co-worker who was on zoloft during her entire pregnancy but her son is fine now (he's 3). I have read that zoloft is the safest anti-depressant during pregnancy and it should be taken if clearly needed. What has your doc said about it? I think given your history with anxiety, it would probably be best for you to stay on it but that is just my opinion.

Mandi: Thanks. So far all my DRs want me to stay on the Zoloft (and maybe wean off for 3rd trimester) and are still talking about the klonopin and what they can do for short term attacks if I go off the klonopin. I have the appt later on in the month with the high risk OB to talk to about all my meds
