Default Upset I'm losing my hair

I'm only 27 and I'm losing my hair it is so upsetting to see pictures of my beautiful thick long hair from just a year ago, to now I'm trying to keep my thinning hair in the front covered because of how embarrassed I am .I honestly don't know what to do does anyone have a shampoo that helps or anything to help this?.I know I am not alone here .

There's a whole group on hair loss/excess hair, if you page down on the message board page. Some of the women have gone through a lot. Of all the PCOS problems, hair loss has to be one of the worst.

I have a little seasonal hair loss and I'm finding that biotin helps with that. But I don't know about more severe hair loss. Sorry.

I have the same problem...I just can't believe it all happened 3 months ago.my hair is shedding crazy and there is nothing I can do about it.I too look at my pictures just from last xmas and I cry..I feel so miserable I dont know the cause I have an androgen fear that I can't even sleep at night but here I am all my blood tests are in noral range except for my progesterone and estrogen are too low.I'm hoping to fix this mess with herbs since my whole damn issue just started 2 months after being on damn bcpfor 3 months.
its funny all I think about is how to fix me ,estrogen or progesterone?or even worse than that androgens.
the doctors are useless.
one thing that has helped me is brewer year ,at least I can see some regrowth or I think they are,my scalp feels rough like new hair is comin out but hey I dont know what to believe or think anymore.
and also I ordered thin hair system by Rene furterer from sephora I think my hair is thicker but the shedding hasn't stopped yet.
I think thin cysters like myself with normal androgen is that our female hormones estrogen+progesterone are too low and thats why we develope all the symptoms like other cysters with high androgen levels..just a thought thou

I have always had really thin hair all of my life but I never really notice any bald spots or anything. Mr sister actually has no hair. She has alopecia and PCOS, not sure if the two are related. My husband and I are ttc so I am taking prenatal vitamins which are making my hair and nails grow faster. You might want to try them. They are good for everyone.

I am also thinning like crazy. I am 16 and almost bald. :/ i haven't tried many yet, waiting for my doctors input. But I know Rogaine for woman did not work for me.. I think you should ask your doctor.

Hope things get easier for you.

hey sweetie are you on Bcps?Bcp may cause hair loss,
It would be a good idea to check your hormones first.topical may work but to be honest you should check what's wrong from inside.

BCP can cause hair loss too? My doctor put me on BCP to help stop the hair loss. This is my third month now. My extreme shedding decreased significantly and the tingling/popping sensation on my scalp had all but gone away. However, for the past two days, the tingling has come back. My doctor also prescribed the 5% minoxidil rogaine for men, not the women's version. I've only been on that for one month, so I haven't seen any results from that either.

It is so distressing to lose your hair. I cry almost every day. And none of my doctors seem to be too concerned about it because I can still cover up my thinning areas. However, if it were to get any worse, I'm sure I would have to get a wig or something. It's also very difficult when no one around you seems to be able to understand. They all joke about how awesome it would be to wear a different wig every day, not understanding just how terrible they would feel it were them. It's a terrible blow to your self-esteem too. I'm afraid if I lose much more hair I won't be able to date. It's all just a vicious cycle.

I would highly recommend going on BCP's if you have PCOS. It really is the only way the hair loss will stop...

I have the same problem...I've been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for about two years now. It's helped a ton...it hasn't made the hair completely grow back but its decreased the shedding alot.

My doctor has not put me on anything until my blood pressure is down. Almost to 120 only 13 more points! woo! I started nizol? (spelling) I am told that could help. Who knows, I am thinking at some point I may just get extensions? the ones that are very close to the roots of your hair, I am thinking if I layer it I won't look so horrible.

yeah, since getting off bcp's 3 months ago, I'm shedding a lot too (esp in the shower) I haven't had a period since then either. Maybe that's why it's falling out? I read on here that nizoral dandruff shampoo helps remove the DHT from the hair follicles so I'm going to give that a try.

if you eat a variety of green leafy vegetables in your daily diet, it can help you to meet with hair loss issues.

oh trust me,my diet is full of veggies and protein.I dont anyone els can keep up with what I eat everyday.too healthy in my opinion.still I'm dealing with this hair loss.I'm convinced bcp specially diane did this to me.
I'm a lean person and guess what yesterday mynew endo told me she's concerned that I might not be the typical pcos candidate.she is doing some more tests to rule out non classic congenital adrenal sinc my free and total testo was pretty low compare to dheas.
I'm hoping this would be the answer ..
