I was on Minulet from the age of 15 and it helped SO much with hair loss. I had thick hair until I came off it to TTC and my hair fell out over the first few Minulet free months, mainly around the hairline, but generally all over thinning. I'm sure the Minulet stopped this from gradually happening over the previous 13 years.

I went on prenatals at the same time, and my hair has started growing back in, even around the hairline it's not as obvious now (I'm on Blackmores Pregnancy and Breatfeeding Gold twice a day). Metformin has also helped control it. Now my hair just looks like it's broken (short) around the front, you wouldn't know it was a hormonal thing. I just hope this continues to control it for a few years. As soon as I'm done having kids I'm going back on Minulet for the rest of my life (or as long as possible), it helped control hair loss, hair gain (it got worse coming off it as well) and acne. Also prevented weight gain. A great pill. I've done stints on Diane in my year of TTC and it's helped with nothing.

My hair is thinning terribly. Has anyone tried inositol or l carnitine? I was told that bcp's only mask the problem and that they actually make insulin resistance worse, which is at the root of pcos.

I had a baby last year and my hair was thick, full and not greasy at all.Now I am 1 yr PP and every day I get handfuls of hair both in the shower and when I fix my hair.I think the shift in hormones did me in and now I don't know what to do for it.I get the hair under neath that looks like I cut my own bangs and there starting to grow back, also I have the little hairs on the top that stick straight up.It only takes a day for my hair to look super greasy.I am now battling acne and Never in my life have I had acne of any kind,I know it's not terrible but I am a picker and when I feel something starting I pick and pick ...I am going to wined up with scars.I just don't get it I am thin have had kids always had thick full hair and no acne and now boom this year PCOS has taken me in it's ugly grips and has no sign of letting go anytime soon.I wish this monster would just go away!.

sassygirl, it sounds like you need your bloodwork checked. Being thin and/or having a baby (congrats btw!) aren't exactly cures for PCOS. It sounds like you need to be doing something to control your androgens...

Thank you for your response I am going to call my doctor and ask if he can order a complete panel work up.

Hey Miss 62, I think I can relate to you a lot (same age and stuff going on).

Hair loss is the most stressful part for me as well. And yes, reading everything on the internet was making me go crazy as well!

I know it might seem cliche, but for me, my faith in Christ has helped me a lot. Just being able to ask Him to help me with this situation. There is a verse in the Bible that talks about how God knows every hair on a person's head... well, that verse really speaks to my heart, knowing that God really understands how tough this is on me.

Mostly, I just try to keep my mind off of it. For a few months, I was obsessed with what was happening, and I put myself into a depression over it. But now I am coming out of that, and I feel much better.

Best of luck, and I will be praying for you!

Carrie

THANK GOODNESS I found this thread.

I'm currently pregnant with our second set of twins so my hair is being good...for now. After our girls were born handfulls and I mean A LOT of my hair fell out. I freaked out and called my endro...he said there were some shots that I could have INTO MY SCALP. I didn't do it. I wear my hair back a lot to try to hide it. :-(

I'm so scared after these babies are born the same thing will happen. I am wondering if my prenatal vitimans are helping keep my hair in place. I guess if my hair does fall out again I'll just cut it short.

Some of you have mentioned BCP...are you talking about Yasmin? That is what I plan on going on ASAP.

Hi all! I've been reading this board for awhile now but just signed up. I am 29 yrs old and diagnosed with PCOS for 4 years now and I just wanted to share my hair loss experience.

What finally got my hair loss in control was actually stopping bcp altogether back in May. I realized most of my hairloss occured after beginning my bcp.

I have also been using Rene Furter Volumizing Shampoo & Rene Furter Forticea Shampoo (alternating between the two) and a leave in conditioner spray my aunt mails to me from Japan.

I lose about 0-5 strands in the shower now compared to around a clump full. As for hair growth, I still have significant hair loss on the sides of my scalp by my temples but if I were to put my hair in a ponytail I no longer see as much of my scalp now.

Not that I suggest anyone to stop their bcp unless they discuss it with their doctor first but that was what worked for me so far. Although I found out bcps were the cause of my hairloss, I still have a long way to go to getting my hair closer to what it used to be. I still get jealous when I see girls with full beautiful hair like my sister in law and my cousin.

Thanks Carrie, I know I should have faith in god,but I've been praying ,begging whatever you name it nothing works, not a miracle,I'm not that vein,I know why it's hapening to me...me being stupid for listening to my gp and taking bcps...
I'm hoping to get out of this depression but believe me if anyone knew what I've been through...cyctic acne all over my body, extreme muscle pain..and finally this hairloss , 7months of crying.
I'm greatful thou, no serious healthor family problems..thats what keeps me strong.
