I think it's the same thing as being tilted. My Dr. said that it wasn't anything to worry about. and that it affects about 20 percent of women. Just one more odd thing with my reproductive system, lol.
I know my uterus was lower than normal. Which means that when I have my period I have horrible lower back pain.

I am going to guess that she meant a retroverted (tipped)... It isn't really anything to worry about. I have heard women complain that it made it tougher to get PG, but my doctor said that it wasn't the case. Sometimes a tipped uterus can be caused by something like PID or endometriosis, which is probably why some people think that it causes fertility problems (when in actuality it would be the PID or endo causing the problem). Your Dr. is right, about 1/5 women have a tipped uterus. I will say that it can cause your AF to be quite painful, as well as intercourse.
I guess maybe I should have prefaced this by saying that I have a tipped uterus...

I'm actually still a virgin -- a lot of the reasons are related to my self esteem and PCOS. I've always had this feeling that sex is going to hurt. Can't explain it -- sixth sense. Anything to help the pain because I plan on having intercourse with my new bf.
Well, I am afraid it is going to hurt a little during the first time whether you have a tilted uterus or not my dear! Don't worry it gets better as you go. Just make sure that you are ready for DTD emotionally and physically first. GL!
BTW - I have a tipped uterus as well.

Yeah, my mom has that. She said it doesn't really effect her much. She had two children with no problem. Her periods are a bit more painful than mine I think because she always complains about that, but mine have always been pretty mild even when the PCOS was making them come at crazy times. Unlike me, she doesn't even have PCOS.
Yes a "retroverted" or "tilted" uterus is very common. Mine is too apparently! Quite a high percentage of women have it and some could never know! It is just one of those things and shouldn't cause any problems. If anything it just makes life a little harder when it comes to ultra sounds.
Much love,
Lorraine x

Large dermoid cyst on right ovary 6x5cm, waiting pelvic CT scan to dertermine surgery. Hoping not as I still want children and surgery could bring complications.

I actually had my first HSG (hysterosalpingogram) today to test my tubes and was shocked to see that my womb is actually upside down and on the righthand side!!. I was always told my cervix was titled but to see that the whole womb is upside down kind of freaked me out!
The doctor explained that if I did get pregnant (please please please please, cos i didnt go through all that pain earlier for nothing!!!) that I would have to have a C section.
It also explained a lot that when i did get periods that the pain was always on the one side.
If you have any questions just give me a shout x
