First- yes, we got the us embassy pre-approval for Joel-
BUT HOW- since our POA wasn't filed until july 2nd- and all referrals after june 30th were suppose to be not valid- HEY i'm not going to complain at all- but isn't preapproval after FC- which we've never been IN- because he didn't want to submit the dossier until he knew whihc one go give it too (FC or PGN- which is now Central authority)
so I would hope we're in that March 5-June 30th category now- since we have approval and MANY people don't even have that- those that are working with reliquish (Joel was abandoned November 2002)
any thoughts? about how this could've happened- or what's goingon= rollercoaster....
I don't know anything about the Guatemalan program, but I want to wish you much luck. This really sounds promising to me!!

Is the package several pages long, and does it specfically have Joel's name? I'm asking because several people I knew got their pre-approval as standard from the Embassy. But we NEVER got one and it freaked me out at the time, but it was just a matter of paperwork never reached us. There wasn't a problem since THEY knew. So I'm not sure what it all looks like, wish I could give you more advice. I'd say ask on a Guatemala specific adoption board as well.
Hoping this is a sign you're in the March-June group!
Are you referring to the Form I-171H approval? Or are you talking about the I-600 (not I-600A) approval? If it's the I-600, I'm surprised the Embassy would issue approval as I think the I-600 approval is a determination that the child qualifies as an orphan eligible for adoption as defined by the US immigration law and that the adoption has been finalized under the Country's law.
I have teh I-171H approval. This qualifies us as eligible to provide proper care to an orphan.
Sounds like a step forward even if it's the I-171H. I would talk to the Embassy contact or your agency about what the next step is once you get the Court final adoption approval.
Best wishes,

I have the booklet that the US Embassy in Panama sent me and it doesn't mention a type of Embassy approval before you have the Country's final approval - not sure what it is? Does the approval have an official US government form number?
Just wondering?

FC- Embassy preapproval-PGN
I just don't know how we got it- without being in fc?
