My doctor recently perscribed Vaniqa and I'm beginning to use it but I have a question. It says on the information pamphlet to use twice a day 5 minutes after removing hair. Do you all that use Vaniqa shave/remove hair twice a day? Or do you just shave/remove hair once and before you go to bed apply Vaniqa again? Would you HAVE to remove hair before applying Vaniqa everytime for it to work properly? I try to shave as less as possible because it irritates my skin and it'd suck to have to shave twice a day but I guess if vaniqa works, it'd be worth it.
Hi, I have been using vaniqa for about a year. It is very expensive. I only use it once a day in the morning after I shave. My results have been wonderful!! I only have to shave every other day if I really want to. Recently I went three days!! I don't think you have to shave before applying. I have a lot of facial hair, and it is course!! Nothing else has worked for me! I do know you do have to keep using it. I stopped around Christmas time because funds were low, hair came back and just as strong as before. I use it quite liberally in the morning.

Buy a Norelco men's electric razor and shave with that. If you're using Vaniqa it slows down the hair growth and makes it finer so you may not need to shave as often, but you'll find that the time it takes to shave with an electric razor is far less than the time you spend putting on the Vaniqa. Norelcos tend to be much less irritating than wet shaving or than other electric razors. Applying Vaniqa certainly saves nothing by way of time -- it's a real bind that I don't want to get into, because I'm happy with the results of shaving. Where the Vaniqa does score is that the hair growth is slowed down as long as you keep using it. So if you've got to work late or even stay away overnight you're not going to find yourself with embarrassing stubble. I think the instructions are more geared at ensuring as good a cosmetic result as possible, and before a woman goes on Vaniqa there's a fair chance she might be shaving twice a day anyway. If she continues to shave twice a day and uses Vaniqa as well, the chances of facial hair being obvious to others are probably pretty low.
I used to just slap it on after I plucked or whatever it didnt do anythign for me unfortuantly
Its inhibitory effects are somewhat limited where the skin is sensitized to testosterone and has been subjected to both long term and currently-high testosterone exposure. In these circumstances, shaving is the simple, easy, efficient and cheap answer.
Afraid I hated the shaving I felt very butch doing it along with my male pattern baldness I have decided to go down the laser route - AGAIN - but this time have added treatment

OK, I understand that. I suppose I feel a lot more secure having a husband and having a family. I don't feel I need to prove I'm a functional female. But the way I look at it is that I'm a fully-functional female but not very feminine. I acknowledge quite readily that I have some features that are in common with males. So shaving isn't nowadays any big deal as far as I'm concerned.
I dont feel liek a functional female in that I dont get periods either the only female part abotu me is I have boobs !! and they are all mine
Well I didn't have regular periods until after my first pregnancy. Up till then they were occasional and infrequent. And I didn't even have boobs up until I got pregnant the first time. But the thing is that we are who we are. And I'm not going to apologize to anyone for not being "feminine enough." I'm not even going to apologize to myself! Or feel guilty. As far as the hair patterns are concerned, there's really not that much difference between mine and those of some men. But it's probably a whole lot easier for me to acknowledge that, knowing that no-one can challenge the fact that (no doubt to the surprise of a lot of people) it's turned out (to my great delight) that I am a fully-functional female in the reproductive sense -- something I never really expected even to have the chance to prove. I simply don't try to compete in the femininity stakes. I don't really feel anything much in common with the "Barbie-dolls" of this world.

How long does it take you to shave? I use an electric razor but it's a woman's and probably not the best to use and it takes me forever 'cause I like to make sure I don't have ANY stubble left on my face. With all the directions the hair on my face grows in it's hard to go over an area one time without missing hairs, thus having to go over it several times and irritating my skin. Do you dry shave?
I've never heard of this Vaniqa thing before, but after looking at their website, I'm definitely interested. I'm curious, though, as to whether it causes any acne breakout or dryness or other irritations. Has anyone had any problems with it?
So far I've had no problems. I haven't had any acne breakouts or irritations. I think my skin is dry from shaving so I use an intense moisturizing cream and I apply that after vaniqa so I don't have a problem with dryness either. But some people have more sensitive skin than others do, so it might depend on the person using it.

It slows down growth for some people. But the effects last only as long as you keep using it.

Women's razors are designed for legs and underarms and are fine for areas where there's longish hair that doesn't need to be cut too close. They're not designed for short stubbly hair on the face. Electric razors for men are designed to be used only on short hair that's shaved so frequently that it's kept no more than a tiny fraction of an inch above the surface of the skin. They're not much use on longer hair. So for keeping the face totally clear of hair on a consistent basis, a men's model is infinitely better. How long does it take? Well I shave my moustache and my chin area and it certainly takes under thirty seconds each day for that. I move the Norelco head about three times very slowly back and forward over each side of my moustache and each side of my chin area to make sure I get every trace of hair -- the chances are, though, that I've got it all first time -- or at least by the second time. I reckon one could do the whole face if necessary in less than two minutes at the most, but I don't have to do my whole face every day -- perhaps once a week I'll do my whole face to make sure I get rid of any sideburn hair etc. I don't find it in the least irritating and I do have very sensitive skin.
This is slightly off topic - I am new to this forum and have been just diagnosed with PCOS. I have hair over my ENTIRE back - long, thick, and black. Am I the only one with this problem? HELP - How can I fix this? It is even down the back of my arms. I feel like a walking freak!
