I hope you have a sit down job.
You should not be doing any heavy lifting for at least 2 weeks. That includes laundry. You can fold, but you will need help loading and unloading the machines.
Do not carry anything more than your purse.
They gave me 3 days recover time for my tubal(9 years ago).
It was not enough heal time. I also had a reaction to the gas they use to fill the tummy up.
Basic info....
Set timmer or alarm to take your pain meds(Tylanol, RXpain med)on schedule.
I didn't know this and it wore off at 2 in the morning my first nightpost surgery. I thought I was dying!! The gas traveled up to my shoulders and spine. That was the most horrid thing ever. It then takes at least 30 to 60 mins for the meds to start working. SET THE ALARM THE FIRST 2-3 DAYS!!
I have since had 2 more surgeries and have not had that reaction.(TYG)
Take a sm pillow with you for the car ride home. Place it between your tummy and the seat belt for added comfort.
Pack a bag or other it in case you get sick in the car. After surgery it is like being on one of the wildest rides in the fair! You may be dizzy and have nausia.
Have a place at home set up with your meds, extra pillows, tv, remotes, heating pad, blankets.(Couch always works, but a recliner is better to get up and down)
Have your laundry and other chores done ahead of time. Not only will you not be able to haul stuff, but sitting in the house for days straight may cause irritation knowing you "can't" do anything. I can sit and ignore all chores on a daily basis, but if I am sick or "not suposed to do", then I want to do it.
When you do get moving around please be careful for several weeks.
You will have internal stitches that may be uncomfortable.
The main thing to remember is any form of surgery runs risks or side effects.
Adhesions are the main side effect. It can attach to other organs and cause pain.(Could be part of your problem now)
Endometreosis can form in some with hormone issues. It usually goes hand in hand with the tilted uterius. So make sure to discuss endo with your doctor. He should be looking for it when he goes in.
I hope I didn't ramble too much.
Be careful with bending and lifting.
Don't over do it.
Have help where needed.
Set your alarm for meds. Try to stagger pain pills with over the counter meds.
Know what your taking. Some RXpainmeds have Tylanol or IBprofen in them, so don't take that same ingrediant along with it. Switch, example..
Percet has Tylanol with it, so I would need Ibprofen for added pain relief(at least 2 hrs between meds)
If you take Gluc, antidepressants or sleep aide, DO NOT TAKE RXPAIN PILLS WITHIN 1 HOUR OF THESE MEDS. You can have adverse side effects including halusinations.
I personally did not enjoy hearing "voices" in my bedroom!
Drink plenty of fluids(follow post surgery info for the bladder tuck)
Report any unusual pain,burning,etc.
It is very common to develope a UTI post surgery.
Talk to your doctor about this so you can have the proper
perscriptions on hand. (Ask for Diflucan anytime you get a RX for antibiotics)
Let us know how things go,
