It turns out that I did in fact have both a uterine and vaginal infection after my last miscarriage. Because i'm uninsured, it would cost an exhorbitant amount to try to get an hsg on my own. I had some pain that lasted about 3 days and about a week of yellowish discharge. I've been put on flagyl 3xs a day at 400mgs per time. My question is, have any of you had a uterine infection after a miscarriage and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? In other words, did your uterine infections leave any scarring? I'm scared to death. But, cannot afford the test. Should I keep trying and hope everything is ok? The infection seems to have cleared up. Or should I wait awhile until I can afford the test?

I personally would wait a while until you can afford the test. No insurance co. in MO pays for infertility testing or RPL testing (a pg complication; not an IF test in your case)? If the insurance company pays for pg, they have to pay for RPL testing b/c it's considered a pg complication. You do "qualify" (according to insurance companies) for RPL Testing since you've had 2 m/c's.
Good Luck & I'm sorry about the infection

Infection was not the cause of Alexis dieing, (there was no known reason) but I had a uterine and vaginal infection a week after Hannah was born. It cleared without a worry,(Had to be in hospital for 3 more days on antibiotics) and I am now pg again. So in my case there was no long term problems.
Have no advice on the testing, just wanted to let you know infections dont have to end in scarring or problems in the future.
Best of luck
hugs
Teeg

Thanks for answering Angeleyes and Teeg.
Teeg, you've made me feel a lot better. I just have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Were you diagnosed with a mild or serious infection? Did you have any pain with the infection and what kind of pain? Did it clear up during those 3 days or did it take longer?
I'm very sorry about Alexis.
Angeleyes: Thank you. After talking with a doctor we've decided to try until we can afford the test. Unfortunately, I do not have insurance in Missouri. Every doctor's visit is an out of pocket expense. So, there is no way I can get the RPL testing done. But, if nothing happens with 3 tries of clomid, then i'll try to get a job in Illinois and insurance.

Hi Acajou73,
Glad your feeling a little better. I actually had a really serious infection (couldn't tell you exactly what) but they were very concerned that it had gone to the blood stream. 3 days of IV antibiotics, then 14 days (I think) of oral antibiotics at home. Was all very scary, but turned out fine in the end. Yes I had pain, but I had a natural birth of a 8 pound baby only days before. I had stitches and felt like I had been hit by a truck before and during the infection, so I don't really know what was from labour and what was from infection. It is all a bit of a dase. (being sleep deprived with a new born and all) I was having cramping and excess bleeding, but my symptoms were more the all over pain, very high fever, passing out, quite out of it really, and it came on really quickly. Hope this answers your questions
Best of luck with clomid. My fingers are crossed for you.
hugs Teeg
