Unhappy Vacation = need to skip cycle (just looking for a lil' support)

So, today, 10/01 is CD 1. My next course of action is Follistim/trigger/IUI. But my RE wants me to skip this cycle b/c I will be in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from 10/17-10/24. (CD 17-24)

Being my first round of injectables, they don't know how quickly I'll respond. Some people may be ready to IUI on CD 14, others could be CD 20 or something, right? I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me this is best, to skip this cycle. (Well, still BD and hope for a miracle.)

I don't know, just feeling really crappy. I understood what the nurse said and all, and I basically agree. But when I hung up the phone, I bawled. Then later went to the store where "everyone" had a baby in their arms. I walked out the door, eyes welling up in tears.

I'm not new to SC, or new to wanting a child... but this was my first medicated cycle of TTC after a long 18-month forced break. I know this is just an ounce of the pain some of you have felt, and I really admire my cysters for their strength.

Thanks for letting me vent.
~ Angela

Did you actually finish the last cycle - trigger and all and actually ovulate?

FWIW the one cycle I took off of injects by choice - also because we were travelling - I ovulated on my own. It was a very strong O that I felt for SURE - injectables really teach you what O feels like. Alas we did not try that cycle because it would have meant being early pregnant on the trip and I didn't want that - of course I later thought, oh you idiot, why??? BUT -

I think a lot of times a completed injectables cycle will set the ball rolling for an O the next cycle. Often your ovaries are clear and ready to go on their own, barring cysts.

SO - have fun on your trip!!! Hope for an O!!! It's possible.

eta - I see you did clomid not injects - it could still happen.

You'll be an hour south of me *waves*.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. If my cycle even comes a little bit early, it's very possible my "O" time will be while I am in the mountains 6 hours away from home with my parents. I've decided that if that is the case, I'd rather not give myself a trigger, try to BD with mom and dad down the hall or try to get more time off after being on vacation, and I'll just take soy and vitex this time. If I O, great, if I don't, then it's just another month. I'd rather not ruin my vacation feeling like I was wasting a month, but I'd also rather not cancel my vacation.

Sorry to hear that, but it would be worse, I think, to do all the injects and not be able to do the IUI because you're gone. Still sucks though.

I'm sorry! *Hugs* Don't give up on this cycle though! You just never know what can happen! I have a friend who did 6 cycles in a row meds with IUI, had to take a month off due to the clinic closing over Christmas... got pg on her own that cycle!
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Then, when ttc #3, the very same thing happened! She did 5/6 cycles in a row meds with IUI and took December off again due to the clinic closing and she again got pg that month and just had her baby last month! I know it's hard, I do understand. But one thing I've learned over my journey is that we have to keep living. Enjoy your vacation! And when you come back, if you still need to do injects with IUI, you'll be ready and refreshed for your BFP!

Planning around TTC sucks. I'm a planner, and the not being able to know when we could leave for a weekend made life very difficult.

I would agree that CD17-24 would be too risky for an injects cycle. At that point, if you haven't Od yet, you'd probably be going in for daily monitoring. It'd be hard to go through three weeks of stimming to cancel due to travel.

I was always low and slow on injects, as happens to many cysters due to our tendency to overrespond--CD17-24 was prime time for me, not Oing (or being canceled due to overstimming) till as late as CD26....it's entirely possible.

GL, have fun, and as PPs said, try because you never know. But waiting another month still sucks....

Hopefully you'll be able to relax and enjoy yourself on vacation and come back ready to go again. I can sympathize though because I'm on a forced break this month too, and it's frustrating but I figure one step at a time, one day at a time and eventually I'll get there.

Good luck!

AngelaGrace: I totally understand how you feel. I had that same problem on our first cycle of IUI. I actually talked to the DR about it because I was nervous that we were going to have to skip our first protocol. But after talking to them they said that the IUI would be long and over by CD16, they wouldn't let me go that long before I ovulated. So, they went ahead with the protocol. I had my IUI on CD12 I responded with one shot of FSH (Bravelle) and then Triggered and IUI the next day. So maybe ask your RE if ther is a chance they could do more of a controlled cycle.
With that said, you always need to err on the side of your own health. Because if something were to go wrong then you would have to wait even longer to TTC. Just realize that maybe it's a blessing, maybe your body does need a break. We had to take a break last month so I could get a vaccine, very irritating! So I do feel your pain but I also know that there are options too. trust what your RE says and know that they are doing it to protect themselves but to also look out for your health! PLUS...like all the other ladies said you could do it on your own this month!
have a great time!
