Question vaginal cysts/absesses/boils

Hi!
hope youre all ok!
Great site eh??
Just a quick question - bit embarassing too!
Does anyone else get vaginal cysts? Im just wondering because the only time I ever had one was before I was diagnosed and that was when I was pregnant. At the time the dr said it was due to the hormone balance during my pregnancy. I was diagnosed with PCOS a year and a half after having my son!!
I would be interested to know because I dont know if it is a syptom of the syndrome or if it's just me.
Hope youre all doing okay and coping well!!
also as Sept 11 approaches Im think of you over there in the states and across the world!
take care xxxx

Hi,

I'm so glad you asked, I had been meaning to send this question around but forgot to. The obgyn that originally mentioned PCOS to me also found a few vaginal cysts (subaceous, about 3 on one side of the wall, 2 on the other, the largest being the size and feel of a frozen pea). She had thought they were not related to PCOS but I wonder if there is a connection. She didn't seem to think there was a need to do anything about them if they didn't get any bigger. What did your doc say?

My mother has Type II Diabetes and her sugar and insulin stay out of control....she gets the vaginal cysts something fierce, and also gets them in other various "hot spots" on the body (where folds of skin meet or crease) and the doc said it was from the blood sugar problems. Another doc suggested it was from blood sugar problems causing a yeast overgrowth. So, my guess it could very well be related to PCOS (insulin/sugar issues).

Mine are not outside of my body, but inside. And they are underneath the skin. Is this similar to others? Festoma?

Hello

My cysts are always inside my body, too. I had a large one removed April last year.

Exclamation Sounds like HS to me

It sounds like HS to me. I get them around my period, in phases. Not much you can do with them, except TRY AND POP THEM. They hurt really bad, but once you've popped them they go away pretty fast. There is some topical wash I do believe a dermatologist can Rx for you.

PS: I also think it is a Insulin Resistance Issue

OMIGOD! Yet another problem. I get these things all the time, especially around the time of my cycle. Typically they're in my pubic hair, but sometimes they're in my bikini line too. Usually I take aspirin, use warm compresses and pop them in the shower. They hurt like all get out, but you have to pop them otherwise the pain is unbearable. So far I've had to have two lanced by a doctor. I thought they were just inflamed hair follicles. I haven't been tested for IR yet, but I'll bet anything they're part of it. First fibroids, then PCOS, now this. Is my body shutting down completely???

I have then also externally. So many times I have thought it was an STD and had a doc look at them only to say it wasn't an STD. I learned here what they are called. I hate them!!!!

I get these inside and out... I even had the doc test me twice for an STD.... For myself I pop them... but then I clean the area really good afterwards because they spread so easily... but after they are popped they go away fast! They hurt so bad when you have them... and while you are popping them but once you have popped them they feel so much better

Thank you all and thank god for this site!!! Where else could we talk about this stuff?!?!

So, the ones inside, do they have to be removed or are they ok if they stay small and don't go anywhere/do anything? (mine are like grounded teenagers...hee...) My obgyn seemed to think they were fine and harmless...true?

Yes! I 've got 3 inside my vagina and 1 in my pubic area right now. I attended my doctor yesterday and got antibiotics (again - I have suffered with this affliction regularly for about 8 years or so)

I kind of guessed that it was related to blood sugar as my dad was diabetic (insulin dependant) and I remember telling him that I was getting abcesses/boils (although I didn't tell him where!) and he told me that he suffered them all throughout his life - he said it was due to 'rich blood' which he meant was the high blood sugar.

I am sick and tired of getting them....they are really painful and for some reason they never come to a head so they just recurr.

to digress (as I do often - sorry!), I asked my Endo if the fact that my dad was an insulin dependent diabetic was related to me having PCOS - he said that there was no evidence to suggest this.

Talking I'm not the only one!!!!

Not that it's something to celebrate, but I had NO idea what in the heck was going on down there. I have two "small" ones now and one HUGE one, all outside, but the little sucker will not pop. This thing feels like the size of a gumball. Does anyone else get a lot of blood when they pop them? I had one on my inner thigh that I had to "drain" everyday for about 5 months, finally it just stopped one day and is now a pretty little gray spot. The only area I get them is down below, makes me feel soooooo nasty.

So the best remedy is warm compressed, pop it, and keep it clean? What if it won't pop? I actually tried to do that to one and it felt like it popped inside of my body, nothing came out.

*sigh* I feel better now that I know it's not just me.....

I get boils around my waistline, not that I really have one, but they get sore and bruised looking. I have dh lance them for me. I also get one in the same spot on the lip of my love spot. He fixes that one too. I have gotten them under my arm (right side) before, but not lately. It definetly is an IR thing. Unfortunetly my doc that I had last told me that I wasn't far enough on the diabetic side to want to start me on drugs. I guess that is ok with me since I hate taking them anyway. I just have dh check me every week to make sure that they aren't popping up without warning. I really would hate to have one pop on its own and leave a yucky mess. Mine are really easy to get rid of, but sometimes they leave a giant hole and then I wear a bandaid for a while. Yuck.
