Default Vaginal mucus? (may be TMI)

Hi everyone, I'm a brand new member of SoulCysters.net, & I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this community. I am 21 & was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome when I was 17.

I have a quick question for everyone here, & I’m sorry if this is TMI. I’m just wondering if any of you experience the presence of sometimes-excessive vaginal mucus. My vagina has been producing a lot of mucus for about 2 or 3 weeks now, & I’m not quite sure why or what to do.

Briefly, what happened was this: about 3 weeks ago I went to the doctor with symptoms of a yeast infection & she put me on pills, saying, “Take one today & one in five days.” Well, I did just that, & I realized that after I’d taken them, the itching & redness & chunky discharge had disappeared, but now there was a lot of mucus in my vagina. There was no pain, discomfort, itchiness, or redness…just mucus. So I went back to the doctor for another exam, & she said I may have Trichomoniasis& gave me a week’s worth of antibiotics. I took them just as directed, but after I’d taken them all, I realized there was no change in the mucus. So I went back to the doctor a third time just two days ago, & they put me on the same antibiotics they gave me last time. I’m a little worried & kind of annoyed because I don’t want to have to keep going back to the doctor if they’re not going to actually help me.

Has this or something like this happened to anyone else?

Thanks!
~C

That's a lot of antibiotics. Aren't these things they can test for before prescribing antibiotics? I don't have an answer, per se. What I can tell you is that I always have lots of CM, but I always have (and hope I always will). I agree it's weird that this has come on all of a sudden, but I'd try to get a second opinion before going on any more meds for it.
I hope you get some answers!

I'm sure you already know this BUT..about 5 days etc a month a woman creates a variant of cervical (vaginal) mucus. Normally the vagina is a very hostile place for sperm and they cannot survive there. Before you ovulate you release this mucos for safe passage of semen to get through your cervix and carry it where it needs to go.

It's possible pcos creates more mucus than needed or it's showing up following an infection or before making it appear different?

This does seem possible, however I don't have a monthly period & haven't had once since January. I did consider that this might be a post-infection thing, but any infection I did have was over weeks ago. Is it possible to produce post-infection mucus non-stop for 2 or 3 weeks?
