Ok I don't want to gross anyone out here but i had a question about vaginal odor. Since I was 14, (when I got my period) I've had this vaginal buildup that just came up and I would swipe it away with a small towel (which that got too rough so I switched to a mirco-probing with q-tips) and it would go away. We're talking a very small, minute amount but it is a light beige sort of color and if I don't wash everyday it does buildup fairly quickly. If the buildup continues, it does smell bad, but I talked to my gyno about yeast/bacterial infections and she chalked it up to just daily maintainence since there was no discharge associated with it. I don't have any burning sensations or pain, just this little beige buildup on my inner labia, surrounding the clitores. I don't know if this has anything to do with PCOS or not, but any advice/comments would be appreciated!
Well I have to say that if it smells like bread baking, then it would be a yeast infection. Otherwise it's probably just your body doing it's job ... cleaning it's self out.

By your description, I think what you are talking about is completely normal. That is why it is essential to wash daily. Your labia and other vaginal areas shed skin cells and everything just like your other body parts. When you couple that with the heat of your body and sweat, urine, etc. it can get funky
I would imagine that if there are no symptoms and your GYN has said it is normal, it is just a matter of making sure to keep clean.

maybe its just some normal secretion of the vagina.. but to be sure maybe you should do some analysis of the vagina secretion-easy and unpainful..
i discovered this way i had a yest that otherwise was silent!

Thanks for all the advice, I figured it was a natural thing but these days it seems like you have to smell like roses down there and well I was just worried about why I didn't. But it does make sense, I think just regular washing should keep it away, so hopefully it'll all work out
Hi Ladies,
So, I just joined the site and I have a question re: vaginal odor. I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago and I'm 29. I'm definitely insulin resistant and I'm on metformin 1500mg/day. Prior to DX of PCOS, I had several yeast infections constantly and my blood sugar was really out of control and spiking when I had alot of carbs. To get to the point, I feel like I am always battling with "odor" and that it's never quite right. Does anyone else feel that they have a problem with this regularly? Sometimes I think it's my diet (too much bread)? I have started using Nature's Plus Cleansing Bar which is a bar soap specifically for women to stay Ph balanced. Any advice you have is appreciated . . . I have gotten many normal paps, but still have this problem :-(.
Hmm. I have similar - I'm plagued with yeast infections, and have had occasional BV as well.
I've come to the conclusion it's just that some people are more prone to it. I tend to get yeast after every period (as the period induces a change in pH).
I do eat rather a lot of bread (something I will probably try to change) but I really don't think that's the cause.
I'm taking Acidophilus tablets now (to counteract the yeast) and I use the oral anti-fungal tablets you can buy whenever I get it, which clears it up. I am also thinking of making my own slightly acidic gel (which you used to be able to buy, but not anymore) to maintain the pH myself.
Hope that helps! You're not alone.

I asked my DR about this same issue. I dont really ever get yeast infections, and she did check down there. Her answer was just to try and be as clean as possible, but not to use any wipes. She said that that is very bad for you.
