There are many tax centres across the country. Sudbury does have one. I have not yet had issues with my medical claims which includes my co-pays for dentist, prescriptions, vision, extended health and health benefits and I have been claiming them since 2000.

You shouldn't deprive yourself of your legitimate claims. God knows they add up, especially if you don't have benefits or limited benefits. I spent close to $500 on rx glasses this yr, my insurance only covers $150.

We have stopped trying to claim any other expenses(medical or otherwise) on our taxes as a few years back we had such a hassle with the tax department that we have concluded to stop claiming anything but incoming income....but I guess that's what the tax department hopes people do.

I realize that there are plenty of tax centers across Canada but I just figured with the way you described the receipt that is needed for a claim you might be one of the employees that work there.

I have previously recommended for others here on SC's to save their receipts however for us, it's not an option anymore.

After 8 years of audits and harassment from the government...which in our case, we have been harassed, it really is easier not to claim anything.
If the people working at the tax center can't comprehend something, it doesn't exist and therefore you are lying and therefore need to pay them $$$ that should be paid to you. Battle after battle you eventually give up the fight.
Even having $40000 worth of official medical receipts from 1 year, the government didn't think it was possible to spend that much and denied us our claim. When it happens once...fine....even twice. But really we are going on 9 years now and it's the same B.S. every year. Doesn't matter if we use a tax service, an accountant or do the taxes ourselves. We can include every required document and the government still finds an issue to audit us. Even when they are wrong and we discover they owe us $$$...we seldom to never get the cheques as the government always finds a way around it. We have even been told be an "unofficial" source that it's a lost cause.
So if I am a wee bit bitter...it's from years of tax bs.
