Hey guys,
I just recently was perscriped "Vaniga" cream for the treatement of excess hair. It's supposed to slow down the growth of the hair, but it doesnt do anything to help actually remove it.anyone have any success with this??
I haven't tried vaniqua cream, but when I asked my gyno about it a few years ago, she said she hadn't heard of much success with it. I think it helps with new hair growth, but doesn't help much with the old hair growth. I really hope you have success with it!!!

Hi there I don't know too much about it. I am trying it now on my arms. I have heard that it will help the current hair (if removed)grow in softer and less coarse, although that doesn't do much good in say the facial area I guess. I have tried it on my face and it burns like a "mother" so I decided instead of waiste the $60 my insurance did not cover I would try it on my arms after waxing. It's only been a few day's so I'll have to let you know. Sorry, not much help.

I have been using Vaniqa about 6 weeks. My dermatologist prescribed it. It is supposed to slow hair growth and may take as much as 8 weeks to show any improvement. I started using it the same time as Met on my chin, neck, upper lip and sideburns, and it seems to have made a difference. I guess the Met could be contributing too. Some people complain that it causes ingrown hairs, but I've always had folliclitus from tweezing. The doc gave me a topical antibiotic to help heal those bumps. I think it makes the remaining hairs harder to pull out, but maybe that means its working. If you read about it online you will find that it has only been tested on the face, and so it does not necessarily work on other parts of the body. It's considered "cosmetic" so my insurance doesn't cover it. It is pretty expensive ($56 at Walgreens Pharmacy), and a tube is going to last me about two months. I can't imagine what it would cost to use it on my arms!
I had this first before met or anything else. I got lucky! It slowed my hair down within days. Right now I am not using it as I am getting laser, but it is well worth a shot- I wish I could have tried it years ago.
It was soo good that rather than have a full eye to mid neck beard to show the laser physician after two days growth there was very little visable.
I wish it worked so good for everyone else.
I'm on Avandia right now and was prescribed this (of course my med ins won't cover it) and I'm hoping it'll work. It's a cheap alternative to laser removal. Sigh.

Hi,
My endo just prescribed it for me today. He wasnt sure of the price or if my insurance would cover it. He told me to take the script into the pharmacy and ask the price or see if my insurance would even touch it. Now after reading these post I realize that Anthem Blue Cross will probably laugh at me. This is ridicuolous. Here are we women, a lot of us probably are over weight and probably lacking self confidence and have this lovely "hair" problem and can't even afford to buy the med's to make us feel better. I dont know about anyone else, but I take synthroid, glucophage, zetia and pravochol, and cannot afford another prescription. These insurance co's suck. Well, guess I'll put off filling that script for a while. Darn. Have to keep shaving my chin I guess. I'm glad I read these posts now I know there are others out there using it and I know what to expect.

Isn't it funny how they consider hirstuism or hair loss for a woman more of a "cosmetic" issue?? Yet we can get Viagra through my DH's insurance policy. That's so unfair!!! Double standards I tell you...
