Smile vaniqa cream

Don't know if any of you UK cysters are aware that vaniqa cream is available on NHS prescription now. I've asked my GP about it and he said he would prescribe it for me at my next appointment (still awaiting results of PCOS diagnosis.) Even if I haven't got PCOS he said I could try it! Have got really noticeable facial hair and work with children, not a good combination as they are so honest with their observations! I've only just joined as a member but have been browsing the boards for months, its nice to know I'm not the only one with these problems. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know about the vaniqa(its a hair growth retardent and seems to give good results according to reviews read.)

Smile improvement in facial hair - at last!

I've now been using vaniqa cream for about 5 weeks and have just started to notice an improvement in my facial hair, it's definitely better than it was a few weeks ago. It does say in the instructions that it will take between 4 and 8 weeks to start working so you have to be patient and follow the instructions carefully. I was really sceptical about using this but I am so glad I asked my doctor to prescribe it for me, he is very understanding. I used to shave my chin every day and spend about 30 mins each evening plucking as well, I haven't had to shave for 4 days now and the need to pluck has been reduced too. This cream is well worth a try, I was prescribed a 30g tube and I think it will probably last me for another few weeks yet, so it's well worth the just under £7 prescription charge- it's way expensive in the States about $50 or something like that! I urge you to see your docs now!!! Good Luck!

That's great cherrybomb. I don't need this personally right now but I can imagine that many people would be VERY pleased to pay £7 for good results. Good info.

Thought you might find this interesting. Found it on another site.

It is the first of a two part informative session led by Dr. Valerie
Callender on unwanted facial hair and treatment options at:

Yep, it's definitely available on NHS prescription, I've just been to my GP's again and got another script for another tube. The tubes are quite small (30g) but this is deceiving as one tube has lasted me well over 8 weeks and I haven't started the new one yet. I use it twice a day on my chin, neck and sideburns, you don't need to use much, it goes a long way. As for any side effects the leaflet says you can get acne, ingrowing hair, burning, stinging, dry skin, rash etc., but these are only reported in about 1% of cases, I have had no side effects at all and was a bit wary of using it because I already suffer from acne and ingrowns, but these problems have improved since I started using the cream. It takes a while to work so you must be patient!

I was prescribed it too. I went to see the dr the other week but he said that he had never heard of it. But he looked it up for me and found it and prescribed it for me. Then when I went the chemist they didn't have it in and they had to order it. Well I've got it now and I'm in my first week. I really hope that it works, I don't mind waiting as long as it works in the end.

Hiya,
I used vaniqa, it took about 6 weeks before I started to notice the results; but it was fantastic. However my GP then told me I couldn't get anymore on prescription which was really annoying. Then recently I went back to see my GP and casually mentioned it, and she prescribed it again! So I'm glad, because it really did make a big difference to the facial hair growth!
