Just wanted to share my experiences with Vaniqua..I started it about 1 month ago and I already notice a huge difference. I still puuck but not nearly as much adn the hair is much finer and lighter. The bottle is expensive but SOOO worth it to me. I inly use it on two patches on my face ( the spots where I get the annoying and plentiful dark ones) 2x a day religuosly so the bottle seems like it will last longer. This product is great! I wish I had used it sooner.
I am a huge Vaniqa fan also! I am always glad when I hear that it works for others. It has done the same thing for me....reduced the amount of hair, slowed the growth, and made it finer.
I had to laugh last night as I applied the Rogaine to my head to make hair grow and the Vaniqa to my face to stop it from growing. Ohhhh the things we PCOS cysters go through.
Anyways, I am so glad to hear another "cyster" has had success with it! It has given me so much more confidence.

I've been using it about three weeks. I don't have to spend as much time plucking. I have noticed that the hairs sometimes grow in too slowly - and I can't get to the darned things soon enough! I'm thinking that will work itself out if I stay on the Vaniqa.

I live in the DC area, and a 30 gram tube cost me $62. It's supposed to last for two months. It's a prescription cream you put on twice a day, under makeup or moisturizer (you just have to let it dry before putting on other products). It eventually impairs the hair follicle, so it grows in finer/lighter. You do still have to keep removing the hair, but the idea is that you'll have to do it less often. It can take up to two months to see a difference, but I saw one after a few weeks.
No tests have been done to see if Vaniqa's safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
From Bristol-Meyers Squibb's insert:
"Vaniqa may cause temporary redness, stinging, burning, tingling or rash on areas of the skin where it is applied. Folliculitis (hair bumps) may also occur. If these persist, consult your doctor." They also say that all adverse effects in the test samplings were skin-related.
I did notice an increase in ingrown hairs, but the growth has slowed, and I think it will get better (I've only been using it three weeks). I also recommend WAITING at least five minutes after plucking to put this stuff on. Of course, the directions say to do that, but I got impatient one day and it stung so badly I had tears in my eyes.
I'm really happy about this stuff. If the cost is worrisome, a little does go a long way. I know that Aveeno and Biore both have hair-inhibitor facial stuff available in the regular beauty section of your drugstore, without prescriptions. I haven't tried them, though.
I figure it's worth a try, if you have the money to spare. My insurance wouldn't cover it because it's cosmetic (not medically necessary) - the bastards! But Viagra's covered? Since when is a hard-on a medical necessity?
