Unhappy Vaniqua question

Is anyone out there having any luck with the cream Vaniqua to help with facial hair. My doc prescribed it to me way back in February and I am not so sure that it is helping at all. Every doggone day I feel like I am tweezing and tweezing (45 minutes a time before I finally reach my limit and call it quits for the day), then I am back at it the next day. It's driving me insane. So I guess what I am wondering is...I figure if it is not doing anything I should just quit it, but what if it is, and I stop and I end up looking like werewolf woman over night. As it is, it is everything I can do not to end up in tears every morning. Oh how I am hating the mirror..(and the shower, as I am noticing more and more nasty hair). So, anyway, is anyone having success? Do you think I am having more success than I think or should I give it up? Thanks for any advice.

In the package insert for Vaniqa is says that you have to "continue with the current method for hair removal," meaning to keep doing what you are doing and use it. I haven't had much luck, but I get irritated with it because I am "continuing the current method of hair removal," not seeing results and tossing it in my medicine cabinet for a week. Then I take it out again and try again. Nasty little cycle I have going. Are you sticking with yours? There is another post somewhere on this forum about how great it is. I think it may vary.... Stupid stuff...

Yeah, I have been sticking with it so far. Still doing my "current method of hair removal" (which for the most part is tweezing..a little waxing for the stache) as the package says, and using the Vaniqua. I just don't see where it is improving all that much. I'm just afraid to stop if it is holding at least some at bay that I don't know of and to have that come screaming to the surface. My plan is to do electrolysis eventually, but don't want to start until we're done with the ttc plan. Of course the doc says I'll have to stop the vaniqua as soon as we get preggers anyway. Oh how I hate this facial hair!

Yeah, it is pretty stinky.
I have had the laser treatments done on my arms. Not elecrtolysis, but laser stuff. It is a little quicker because it does a patch of hair instead of one hair at a time. Dont know if I could ever get it done on my face. I dont think the laser stuff has any side effects to TTC or pregnancy. I will ask again when I go for my next treatment.
This is a weird question, but have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and thought "I look man-ish today?" it happens to me once a month, and it cracks my dh up. I will be standing there, looking at myself, and I can practically feel the messed up testosterone in my body and I feel MANLY!!
I am a one woman freak show it seems!! Make way for the bearded lady!!!!!!

much love!

I just had to laugh reading your question about looking in the mirror and thinking I look mannish. My dh looks at me like I am crazy too when I talk about it. All this hair drives me insane. I plan on tackling the hairy arm issue too. I just cringe when I look at it. I'm getting very self conscience especially now that the t-shirt weather is starting to arrive here in Minnesota. And of course all of this is just hitting like a ton of bricks. When I was on BC pills (pretty high dose ones), it really helped keep all of this stuff at bay. So I just go into shock every so often as I feel like I am getting to be hairier and hairier. Every so often I make the comment to dh that the circus or carnival is going to come and kidnap me to be their big fat hairy bearded lady. ( I've gained 40-50 since going off the pill regardless of watching what I eat and exercising). That certainly hasn't helped the cause. Anyway, dh gets a little ticked when I say things like that. He says I am the only one that notices because I am so self-conscience. I think he is just being sweet and dear and just saying those things. So, I was long winded to answer your question... Yes, There are days when I feel somewhat mannish and get somewhat depressed and swear I can feel all of that nasty testosterone running rampant. I just have to keep reminding myself that in a few months we'll either know if we can (and do get preggers), or we will call it quits and I will then go back on the pill and start tackling all of these other issues. Oh the fun we PCOS women have

I just had to write in and tell you guys, you are too funny with all the manly stuff. I have to admit I have never felt I look like a man, but I have wondered when that freak show for the circus is going to come and get me..lol
My husband tells me the exact same things (god bless them really) and I have more hair on my chest than he does. (way more actually)
I just wanted to give a little tip for the arms. I really never thought too much about my arms cause atleast it is seen as "normal" for a woman to have hair there. But at some point I took the trimmer on my electric razor and went over my forearms and they look great without any irritation or expense. Once every three or four days works great.
Keep your chin up girls

Thanks for the tip! I don't think I would have thought of that! Can't wait to get my hands on my hubbie's trimmer now.

Have a great day!!

This is a silly response but what the heck. I never felt that I looked like a man but I definately sometimes feel all the crazy hormones running thru me. Its ususally around AF time. I hate that time of month for that reason.

I guess I should clarify some in that, I really don't feel I LOOK like a man, I just end up really hating all of the excess hair, especially on my face. It really gets me down sometimes. It's just this never ending yucky battle. Oh well, everyone has something in this world that they hate or have to deal with so I know it could be alot worse. It just doesn't feel like it some days

Take Care!

I could only dream of 2 hairs on my chest. Something seriously went wrong with me cause my chest and breast are pretty much covered, not like a man's but a damn lot of hair. I don't know what to do with it. I tried for years to get rid of it and did several years of electrolysis, but it never went away and left some scarring in the process cause the breast skin is so sensitive. I just keep it well hidden now. :-<
It seemed to come along when I had my first baby and every complication possible came along, I was flown to a larger hospital and given shots of "steroids" to develop the baby's lungs as she had to be delivered. I did that for four days and then they did a cesarean. Things haven't quite been the same since....
Am I the only one with the chest and breast problem???

Hi Shellfish,
I really like the friends Mr. Merlot, Ms. Chardonnay and the whole rest of the vineyard clan too. Obviously hence the name. Of course I'm not exactly having too much from that family as we are ttc. In fact, we're in a stretch here where we could be, but too soon to tell (cross your fingers for us the beginning of next week as that is when I will be paying a visit to Mrs. Stick in the ol' bathroom). In fact I should be getting a phone call today to here how my test results came back to see if I O'd. The way my body has been acting this week, I think dh is thinking we are preggars. Anyway, I'm sure that is way more info than you wanted Back to the "important" stuff. When I finally got brave and was joining the cysterhood, I was filling in the info forms and was talking with dh while doing it, and trying to come up with a pen name. At the time I was sipping a glass of Ms. Chardonnay, and came up with Wine Lover. Dh thought that was pretty good so the name stuck. What I find really fun is I started reading the PCOS Diet Book, and it says right in there that we should be drinking one glass of red wine a day to help with cholesterol and that. I though that was just a hoot! I made sure to point that one out to dh. I said look honey! It's right here in writing! He thought that was pretty funny too. I won't be able to start that habit until we either conceive or we end up stopping and moving on with our lives. So, long story to short...Enjoy a glass of Mr. Merlot for me out on the porch. It sounds heavenly.

Hi Nurse_Bren
I haven't anything like that on my chest or breasts yet. The key word there being yet. I keep wondering if or when it's going to happen since going off the pill, hair has been springing up all over the place. Wish I could offer words of wisdom or help. I know how frustrated I am so I can relate to how you must be feeling. Take Care!
