Default vegan someone?

i have been a vegatarian for ages and are now for ethical reasons turning into a vegan (at least i really try to). weight was never an issue for me, i rather have to watch not to loose any. are there some other vegans out there in this pcos world? has this diet impacted any of your symptoms? mine are acne and freaky periods. would be great to hear some good news

Default vegan diet

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago and was promptly put on a low-GI diet (along with many other things). Because of other health and personal reasons, about 2 years ago I switched to a low-GI vegan diet. It has done wonders. I used to be on a whole slew of meds; I felt like PCOS was controlling my life. After 6 mos of the diet I was taken off metformin and spironolactone. 6 months after that I was free of everything but my daily vitamin and a bio-identical progesterone cream (made from wild yams- otc). I was 5'4" 160 lbs. In a year I lost 20 lbs and have kept it off. My acne cleared up and my hair and nails became stronger and thicker. My menstral cycle became regular for the first time in my life; I now have a 29 day cycle! I no longer battled with depression and mood swings. I want to note, though, that I am not just on a vegan diet but a low-glycemic vegan diet, and I was exercising regularly. I don't eat white breads or rice, no white potatoes or corn, no refined food, and I am really careful on the 'replacements' intake because a lot of the 'fake' products out there have an extreme amount of sugar to help with taste. My proteins come from beans, tofu, avacado, and nuts and my calcium comes mainly from dark green leafy veggies. The only 'symptom' that I am having a hard time shaking is the unwanted facial and body hair.
