Question Veins Question

I'm 24 and I have been on Yasmin for about a year, no negative side effects, I feel great, however I have noticed that the veins in my legs are more visible. They aren't varicose veins (those protrude above skin), but my veins are visible from my thighs to my calves. Is this a common symptom of being on Yasmin? I heard from a nurse that being on bcp's will cause the skin to think out therefore causing the veins to be more visible. I wasn't sure if this was true. Will these slowly and eventually develop into varicose veins? And is there anything that can be done or is this harmless and nothing to do with being on Yasmin?

Oh, I have this to and have been wondering this same thing. I have never ever had noticable veins until I started Yasmin and now they are very prominent in my thighs, but not variacose.
I have been on the Yasmin for about 6 months.

Default Veins

I have read somewhere that this is a sign of low Iron. I have very low iron store levels (Ferritin). I recently started taking extra iron. I noticed this morning that the veins are less visible on my left arm and leg, so I think the supplements are helping. Signs of low iron can be: feeling run down, tired, memory loss, hair loss and feeling cold.
If you feel you have low iron, ask your Doctor to test you. Too much iron is not good either, your doctor will let you know what supplements you may need.
My other iron tests came back normal, but the ferritin was below the charts low level.

Hmmm, I never heard of that before--low iron linked with visible veins. I know that eating red meat will help boost iron levels and of course iron in daily vitamins. In the Yasmin warnings it does say varicose veins. I hope I don't get them. I think I can deal with visible veins but not varicose... I'm only 24! Thanks girls.
