Unhappy very depressed about laparoscapy results

Had a laparoscapy and a hysteroscopy and die test on Tues pm.
feel very tender still from the op, but most of all very shocked with the results!!!!

The specialist who did the op told us just before the op that my dh sperm count is normal and i ovulate quite regularly that he will check the tubes are all ok then start us on clomid!!!

So you can just imagine how we felt when he told us the strongest and probably only hope we have to concieve is through IVF!!!!

This is because somewhere along the line I have picked up an infection (he called it a pelvic inflamatry disease) sorry about spelling i am still a bit drowsy!!!
Well this infection and destroyed my left ovary and tube, and only 80% of the right tube is good, but the right ovary is covered in cysts and is stuck to my pelvis!!!!yuck!!!!!!

Has anyone heard of this before?????
We are getting over the shock, and the first step is to get rid of this infection when i feel stronger and see a fertility specialist about IVF.

Would appreciate any advice

hi Ali,

Im really sorry about your news, you must be so distraught.

I don't really know about Pelvic Inflam Disease, but I know it can cause fertility problems if it's not treated straight away. I think if you catch it in time before it's done any damage it's just a case of taking a course of antibiotics. It's one of those diseases that can lie dormant for years.

I too was tested for it (by a swab) as the gyno knew I was ovulating and dh's sperm was fine but I just wasn't conceiving. Fortunately it came back negative, but I remember feeling terrified. Also, 3 weeks before my laproscopy appt I fell pg completlely naturally.

I really hope that things work out for you. It's a real good sign that you ovulate regularly and dh is fine.

Fingers crossed for you.

Tam

Hi Ali,

I know this is probably a bit later on now, but I have just read your message.

Sorry to hear your news, I hope you are a bit more focused now.

I thought that I would reply as I am only a stones throw away across the water from you!

Don't roll over for the Doctor - if they say your best chance is IVF, make sure they let you have it NOW, remember, those who don't shout get nowt!!

Good luck, keep smiling and remember always be positive - you can and will achieve anything you set your mind to.

Yvette
