Unhappy Very Nervous about glucose test results on Wednesday!

I am so very very nervous about the test results I am going to review with my Doctor on Wednesday. She is testing for a lot of things, but what concerns her the most is the glucose. Now, I am a "pre-diabetic", but lately I am exhibiting Type II Diabetes symptoms!

She said if my glucose level is normal (80-120 mg/dL) then I have to have the one hour glucose tolerance test and if it is abnormal...I have to get a glucometer and will have some serious lifestyle changes.

I am just scared to death, and very very nervous!! If I have diabetes, my whole life is going to change, and I am so young to have type 2 diabetes!!

Would I be put on insulin or just have a lot of lifestyle modifications??

You'll be ok! I know how nervous you are, I'm pre-diabetic too (been for 2+years) and had a fasting blood test on Monday am still waiting to hear for my results... I've been exhibiting diabetes 2 symptoms as well and unlike your doctor who helps you, mine just tells me over the phone what I need to do lol Very sad. Anyways, just hang in there and try not to stress too much over your results. You may not have to take insulin, I know several Type 2s who just monitor their glucose and have had to make some lifestyle changes (exercising more, eating better etc) And your life won’t change too drastically! Yes, you'll have to make some adjustments on the things that you do, but it won't run your life! And I understand about being too young to have diabetes, I'm in the same boat as you. It’s not fair but what you do now is what matters. If you want to live a healthy life you have to make adjustments, even small ones. Those are what matter in the long run. Hang in there!

I agree, you'll be fine! I am a Type II diabetic and it is not all that bad. You can def get it under control with diet and exercise. And if that isn't enough more than likely your doctor will just increase your Metformin. I was personally petrified about being diabetic because of the possibility of insulin, but I dont need and may never need it.

Thank you both so much for the reassurance. I spoke to my Step MIL today who is a type I diabetic about the possible treatment I would undergo and she said the same things as you ladies said Thanks again!
