Default very painful/heavy periods???

I just assumed that having a lot of pain and heavy bleeding was something that had to do with PCOS. I've been reading a lot of information about PCOS to see if I could find anything about it, but I haven't. My period came (on its own) last Wednesday, so I'm going on 9 days with it and its getting worse everyday. Also, been having a lot of blood clots (sorry, it that's TMI). I'm just so confused. I don't know if I should be concerned about it and call the dr or what.

I still have this problem. Apparently it is sometimes caused by something called estrogen dominance. Meaning that you don't produce enough or any progesterone or sometimes testostrone to balance out the amount of estrogen so the lining constantly thickens and until you get some progesterone going it will continue. I've had these nasty 1 tampon and pad an hr bleeds my whole life. At times they've gone up to 3 moths before I got the progesterone I needed to stop it.

Another condition which I now have that may be related is called complex hyperplasia. You'll want to get checked for that as it is a precancerious condition your doctor will want to closely monitor.

My best advice to you is let your doctor know as soon as possible. You probably need a good round of progesterone at the very least and possibly a biopsy to determine if you have other underlying problems. Also could you be having a miscarriage? That's another suspect cause for bleeding like that.

I've had all three so if you want to talk in details PM me or send me and IM on AOL or Yahoo.

Good luck- I know the bleeding sucks!

Hi

I also have a history of heavy bleeding. After not having a period for a year I would then bleed heavily and continuously for up2 6 months when I was given a medication to stop it, this happened 3 times, after a laperoscopy last year I was told I had had endometritus as they could see the scarring. Touch wood this hasn't happened for 2.5 years altho my periods are virtually non existant..

I went off BCP in March, when we started TTC. My periods used to be like this, but that's why I went on BCP as a teenager. When Im taking the pill, they're normal.

Nope, I'd had been to the dr, neg. preg test. I took an HPT the day before my period came.

For me, the heavy bleeding and clots were due to a uterine fibroid. Good luck - this is miserable stuff.
