Unhappy Very strange problem...

I have never heard of anyone else who has this problem with BC, I feel a bit foolish asking...

When I eat cantaloupe, lots of carrots or drink certain sodas my lower lip gets a welt that is almost like hives. My throat and soft pallate get itchy too. I am thinking I am having an allergic reaction. But why does this happen only when I am on birth control? When I am not on BC I have to eat A LOT of cantaloupe or carrots for this to happen.

It happened yesterday, I had eatten gaucamole at lunch and had 2 cans of Sierra Mist soda.

My hubby thinks I am crazy, plase give me some feedback please.

I would make sure you go and see your Dr.

It may be that they are making you more sensitive but any allergy that starts int he mouth can be dangerous if left unchecked.

I had allergies for a while after having a m/c and ended up with anaphilactic shock; the allergy had started in my mouth with my lips swelling; then my tongue got sore; then my whole body reacted and I ended up finding it difficult to breath. I had a few close calls around that time but never really found out what it was. My own Dr believed that it may have been the anaesthetic in the hospital which started it off.

I have had very similar reactions. Cantaloupe or apples are the worst for me, but it is random too. it does sound like an allergic reaction if your mouth is swelling. perhaps keep some benadryl on hand just in case it gets bad.

also, i keep carmex with me. even though it is for chapped liips and cold sores, i find that it helps with "the worm" that i get on my lip.
