Default Vinegar might actually be working.

I was on here the other day and saw all of the raves about apple cider vinegar. We have some in the house, so I decided to try it before meals. I have been doing it for a few days and feel great. I get fluctuations of my blood sugar so easily even on a relatively low GI diet and am hungry after not eating for an hour or two. For once I feel like I can go longer without eating and not feel dizzy. I just feel good. Also, this may be a coincidence, but after not having my period for almost 5 months I got it today. Again this could be a coincidence, but I feel like I may be on to something. Also, I have been taking fish oil so it could be that also. I'm just happy that some of the natural things seem to be helping. How long did the vinegar take to work with all of you who have tried it?

That's interesting!

I never missed AF, so I can't comment on ACV's affect on AF, but it quelled my cravings after the first day. It was like magic...sort of

After I started using vinegar, I slimmed down a little more (and it helps with bloating). I only use it 1x per day, but I will take a bottle with me to work so I can use it there.

I have noticed more results the longer I have taken it. I do not get as much tummy pain. My brain fog is non-existant now (which makes me happy!!!) my periods are much more regular.

I take Braggs Vinegar and another great thing, it helps is if you ever get a cold and come down with a sore throat gargle with the vinegar for awhile and then swallow it, repeat it a couple of times, next day or so no more sore throat and helps with the cold. I had a sore throat and did that, the next day my throat felt alot better, my sister came over both times when she came down with a cold and a sore throat and sure enough within the next day or so of taking it, no more sore throat.
I take it everyday and sometimes more then once, I take it straight or make a salad dressing out of it, Braggs Vinegar and Braggs Olive Oil or I cut up a cucumber and put some of the vinegar on it. It is great for alot of things, you should buy the book about it! You can go to there website to read about the benefits of taking it and order some of there products or the vinegar and you also can buy the books about it. It is a great site, go to: www.bragg.com

how much of the ACV do you ladies drink before meals? I bought some to start trying, but I wasn't sure how much to try.

You can take a tablespoon before a meal. There has been times were I would take a couple tablespoons before each meal or sometimes I just take 3 tablespoons at one time and that is it for the whole day. If you can't take it straight add it in with some water or make a salad dressing out of it, a few tablespoons of the vinegar and some olive oil and pour it over your salad.

The specific amounts used in the studies on vinegar and IR are listed here:

I would love to start the vinegar. I have no problem with the taste. The only problem is that I am on spiro and the vinegar is very high in potassium. Aren't you supposed to be careful with high potassium foods if you take spiro?

This is an interesting thread I didn't know cider vinegar could help PCOS. But about a year ago I was taking it with honey and hot water as a drink, because a friend of mine was really into it for general health. I was pretty sure I noticed an improvement in my skin - I didn't notice anything else. But I kinda just fell out of the habit of my cider vinegar drinks. I think I might get back into them after reading this thread. But I would like to know if there are any bad side effects or things to be careful of.

I tried it once, and would like to try it some more... but honestly, I have had problems with the taste. I even tried diluting it in water, and almost threw up. (And I usually have a stomach of iron.) I do like it in salad dressing, though... I'll try having some of that around, although I don't eat salads every day. (Every other day, probably.)

Any other tips on making the stuff more palatable? I like the honey and hot water tip... I might try that.

This is weird, reading this reminded me that my grandmother used to drink vinegar and water every now and then... but i can't remember what it was for. I think she salted the water a bit too...

I'm not sure if she used it as a gargle type thing or actually drank it, I was pretty little. I would make a small glass for myself and drink it though, I do remember that! (always liked vinegar)

BrightCeleste, have you tried organic apple cider vinegar? It tastes way more 'appley' than some of the other vinegars out there. I actually do like the taste of it - but maybe some people are just geared for that kind of taste more than others. I think putting salt with it is way beyond me though!

Not sure StephUk - I would like to know about any side effects too. I'm on met as well, and it sounds like met and vinegar do the same thing with regulating blood sugar. Maybe too much isn't good?
