Question Visit to gyne, anyone else told this?????

I have just got back from the gyne, he asked me various questions, about my bleeding patterns, if I had had any pregnancies, any body hair, then I had an internal...which was loverly...
He then confirmed the diagnosis, yes i do have PCOS, although my symptons are so minor, if any, I didn't want to put me on the pill and said he would like nature to take it's course. So, i will now wait and see if and when I get my period, if I don't or I get any abnormal patterns I will go back to see him. It cost me £100 for 10 bloody mins!!! The only thing he did say was to not put on any weight, I am only 5"6 and 8 stone, but hopefully I won't, and therefore other symptons won't arise. So, I will see what happens...Anyone else in this situation?

Hi. Ask your gp to refer you to an endocrinologist. I got nowhere untill i went to see one. I was told by my doc(a woman)that there was no such thing as a hormone problem and other docs said i was depressed. My jaw dropped when the endo said he knew what was wrong with me and he could do something to help me!
Hope this helps

I totally agree with Karen.

Go and see an Endo. if only to put your mind at rest. I know that as I have got older my symptoms have worstened ... i'm not saying that this will happen to you but be prepared and get on the Endo's books, he/she will be able to advise you.

Hi,

I was recently told by my Gp to "ignore your lack of periods as they are an inconvenience, and ignore the other symptoms and they'll go away..."
Needless to say I was coloured very shade of miffed! So I'm going back to my GP with my fiance's Mum who's a nurse to put them straight. I've not had a period for 5 months since I came of Dianette. I am joining Weight Watchers and I hope that by nwext March I will have lost 3 stone or thereabouts.
Good luck in finding someone to listen, I wish I could.
Amy xx
