Default Visiting London

Hello Ladies~

I actually live in US, but will be visiting London very soon to see my husband's parents. We will be there from March 2nd to March 9th. I am not a traveler, so a bit nervous about the transatlantic flight.

I just wanted to check in and say "hello!" and ask if there were any hints/ideas/suggestions on things in London. And, if any of you have made the flight...how did it go and what helped pass the time?

Also, my pcos information...I've been diagnosed for about 7 years now. I'm trying to find a good doctor here in the states to see for some decent medication. At this point, the doctors around me just want to give me Demulen and move on. It's very discouraging.

Thank you for letting me peek inside this board~

I'm an American living in London, so I make the flight waaaay too often, usually a couple times a year for the past, oh, 10 years maybe. My advice for the flight: plan to sleep, if you can, but bring books or magazines to get you through many hours of boredom if you can't. The entertainment available varies by airline and what class you are in. It's probably too late to do anything about that now though. My fave is Virgin, but I've flown on just about every airline that flies to the US from here.

There are so many things to do in London you won't possibly run out of things in the time you're here. Is there anything in particular you're interested in? One of my fave touristy things is the London Walks, if you're up to about an hour or so of walking (well, walk, stop a bit, walk a bit more really). They're pretty cheap and well run with really good guides. And no, I have no connection with them at all. I just like them. I think they may have a website, but there are brouchures for them everywhere--hotel lobbies, tourist info desks, etc and you don't need to book. Just turn up in the specified place (usually a tube stop) at the specified time.

HTH

Lemme know if you have any specific questions.

Bob

So this is the first time for you in London?? There is so much to do - a lot depends on what your plans are what your budget is. As bob says, the walks are great, but if your budget is really tight you could buy a decent guide book and they will have routes for you to walk with various lengths.

As a londoner myself i would say a must is to see the City - that would include a walk along the river Thames with lots of sites; St Paul's Cathedral (where Princess Diana got married to Charles), Shakespeare's Globe theatre, the Tate Modern art gallery, old riverside pubs, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. That particular walk is a great day out.

There is so much to do and see. It really does depend on your interests. I could list a whole lot of things but it would take all day!!!

As for the flight - a good book plus 3 or 4 magazines should do the trick. You'll probably see at least one movie that will take up 2 hours and the meal should take up another. Make sure you get up and move around at frequent intervals too.

As Bob says, let us know if you have any specific questions. i.e. shopping, restaurants etc, I want you to enjoy London!!!

Default Thanks!

Thank you both for the helpful words about the flight and London! I'm just so nervous about turbulence! yikes....

Anyhow, once we arrive we plan to see/do/visit:
Tower of London
London Eye
Westminster Abbey
St. Pauls Cathedral
British Museum
London National Gallery
A boat trip on the Thames to Greenwich
And....other walking sites that we will see I'm sure...

We are also going to take a day trip to see Hampton Court.

Again, thanks for your input. I appreciate it!
