Default Vitamin D

I'm new here, with a question about vitamin D.

I found some articles linking PCOS and Vitamin D deficiency and took them to my endocrinologist. He agreed to have my blood tested.

I just got a letter from him reporting that my vitamin D level is low. He wants me to supplement 800 IUs more per day beyond what I've been taking on my own. I don't know what my levels actually were. Based on his advice, I will be supplementing 1,600 IUs of D3 per day. This doctor is quite careful, so I'm assuming that this is a conservative dosage based on my deficit.

Are any of you involved in assessing and correcting Vitamin D deficiency?
Are you being assessed by your endo, another doctor or doing it freestyle?
How much D are you taking a day?
Any good results?

All you could ever want to know and more about Vitamin D deficiencies; studies; articles; dosage comments etc.

this will take a long long time to go through but for anyone with health issues, you should feel it is worth the effort.

I currently take 40 000IU per day of Vitamin D along with 25000IU of cod liver oil for the Vitamin A(will take for 3 more months) to overcome a vitamin D deficiency i've had most of my life. I think that's where my PCOS may have started but of course i can't prove it.

Anyway, have fun reading and learning.

best wishes

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses. I had a difficult time trying to get back to the thread to read them for some reason.

Mise, my city has, apparently, one of the highest MS rates in the world. When I went to my endo for D testing, he said that MS rates correspond very accurately to vitamin D deficiency.

The spectrum seems huge, between 400-40,000 IUs of supplementation, on this one thread.
